He is out of his mind !!

Let's see: what did Jesus do that warranted 39 lashes from a whip, contempt and disrespect, and to be nailed (naked) on a tree? The roman punishment (originally) for runaway slaves.

He taught, preached, healed and fellowshipped with women and men. For no pay.

And there was a murderer, named barabas, and pilate said to the crowd, which should be set free? And the crowd said, set barabas free and 'crucify Him'. ..."and let His blood be on us and our children" Major faux pas there. LOL

Of course, some men have been tortured worse than Jesus was: think of Braveheart and being drawn and quartered. Do you know what that meant? Deep, deep cuts in all your major limb joints and then tied to four horses, who are whipped to run in four directions !! Ouchie.

But, Jesus was INNOCENT and went to His death with sublime dignity and unbelievable courage !!

He knew what was to happen when he went into Jerusalem. I guess he just figured freedom of speech and a free spirit was worth standing up for as an example that we will never be free unless we stand up and be counted. He said, one nd they killed him for it but many have died for our freedom of speech and will. It's not until we all say "I will not be moved" that we will be truly free. Free from prejudice and a long list. No one can control six billion people in the end if they don't allow it. That's the method and the source of the method of Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.

He was a traitor to the Roman State who were his legitimate rulers at the time.
By preaching about 'The Kingdom of God' after death he was subverting the authority of the Roman Empire. And this from the one who said 'Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's."
On top of this Christianity worked to subvert Roman rule for the next 300 years until they finally managed to infiltrate the Roman government with the help of the Emperor Constantine.

Hey, it isn't pretty but you asked. He was a criminal in the eyes of Roman law.

Whether we agree with it or not, during Jesus' time it was illegal to preach as he was doing. Jesus was in hiding and one of his own turned him in.

People were afraid of believing in something other than what their gov't allowed.

But look at all the religion today. If Jesus would to come back today most would call him crazy. He would either be locked up in a psych ward or killed by the FBI.

As much as we may hate to admit it, we are not that much different than those who thought Jesus was crazy and killed him.

Yes he taught, preached and healed and that was the problem. All of these things were a threat to the roman belief system, and just like the terrorists of today the romans wanted to remove the threat and used Jesus as an example in the hopes that it would squash the Christian movement

According to the bible, it was his destiny to die. That's why he was born.

And as for Braveheart, that movie with Mel Gibson was so full of historical inaccuracies that it may have well been fiction, but that is how he was executed. That is how most men were executed back then. They were also disemboweled first. Read about what Henry VIII did to Thomas More.

Well... he was rather flippant in his answers when he was being questioned. So, of course that pissed of Pilate, Herrod, and the crowds. Hell, even today some countries might torture and kill someone for being smartass to the king.
He very easily could have talked his way out if it.... or even easier blasted them all to hell with bolts of lightning and such!
But he didn't, so, yes, he was begging to be tortured and killed.

Jesus stands as an example to all of us....that we are to stand for truth regardless of what the world says or does to us because of our beliefs. We are not to show anger but hold steadfast to our relationship with God and accept with dignity the slings and arrows of the unbeliever. Jesus triumphed over death just as we will triumph over death because of Him.

He knew what the outcome of his preaching and healing would be....both in this world....and for this world. It is for that reason that he was fearful of the cup that God had asked him to drink from....yet he still held fast to doing what had to be done....for us.

That is drawn and quartered!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my holy god. That is beyond cruel.

I think Jesus was an Essene rabbi named Yeshua ben Yoseph. He probably died of old age. Paul took this beloved holy man and used the story of Mithra to invent a Christ.

He was not innocent, he was a blasphemer. He came in and converted the Jewish people into a completely new religion because he said "I am the Messiah," just like 10000 other people in the time period, many named Jesus.

The Jews were waiting for the messiah who would fulfill many prophecies, and this man did none of those. The Jews were right to want him killed
