Wrong interpretation of what love is to begin with. If it hurts than it's not love. You shouldn't feel that you're in harms way. That's quite a glass is half empty remark for those who have had a negative association with a past loved one. If it hurts then there's an imbalance or a consciousness.

If you really love somebody, you won't feel hurt if it's really hurts. You will feel loving somebody is worth & it's a pleasure & enjoy to love somebody even it's hurt..
By the way, my ex hurts me.. but I still keeps on loving him & wait for him no matter how long.. Maybe you will think I'm foolish.. But I feel I'm enjoying & pleasure to love him even it's hurt.. Maybe this called true love..
