My family has just moved to Port Lavaca, Texas. I start work soon. Can someone advise me on a great daycare center for my children?

Call your local elementary school, social service agencies, and churches. They should give you a list to check out. Then contact those programs and ask what license they have, what credentials their teachers have, and what kind of schedule the children follow. Make sure the schedule allows plenty of free choice play time! Try to observe a class in progress. Once you have chosen a program, try to volunteer a little time in the classroom so you can observe firsthand what your children are experiencing!

Start by finding NAEYC accredited centres by going to http://www.naeyc.org/academy/web%5Fready/search/
Then do all the things the previous poster recommends.
