'heaven is within'. So, where is this heaven you go to when you die? And, why are you waiting to die to get there if it is within? Why not go there now, like this man Jesus did? Isn't that how he 'got to be' (be-gotten) God's only 'begotten' son? Was he the only one willing to do the inner works to get there? Surely if it is within everyone, what's your hold up?
And for Christ's sake, don't quote scriptures! I would like your very own personally master minded explanation!

You may as well quote Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth"....

I won't quote any Scripture per your request. I must tell you though that the Bible nowhere says "heaven is within." If you look for this in a topical Bible and a concordance you will not be able to find it. You will be able to find dozens of passages that contradict this idea. This is one reason it is good to do primary source research before making an assertion. No doubt someone told you the Bible said this somewhere (because someone else had told them so). I don't know if you have done many research papers in school, but two things the professors will tell you to do are to check your materials in primary sources and to back up your claims with real quotations.

I would make no more reference to the Bible (I am still not going to quote it) if you had not brought the subject up.

The Bible does systematically teach a concept of the Kingdom of God / Kingdom of Heaven that is the equivalent of the rule of God. At this time, the kingdom has come to us invading the rebellion of man causing us to submit to the King. When the king returns he will cause all things to be in absolute submission to his rule. Perhaps this is what your sources mistakenly equated with "heaven within."

The Bible does repeatedly teach a place of reward in the afterlife for those who have received the sin-cleansing, life-changing salvation offered in Christ. This is the hope of Christians. As a Christian I am fully persuaded that there is a heaven that awaits me when I die. This does not mean that I have not found incredible joy in Christ. The Bible says, however, that the glorious inner effects Christians enjoy now is just a down payment on the full effects to come when we die and when Christ returns.

This is my "personally master minded explanation." If there were no revelation from a heavenly source on this topic I would have no idea what to believe about it since I would only be speculating. The Spirit of God has come to me in salvation confirming the veracity of the Word of God which reveals what I have summarized without quotations.

Ah, the quickest way to get the Christians to quote yo scriptures is to ask them not to. I have tried it, they don't listen. I don't think that a lot of them know how to think for themselves, or the idea is too dangerous. Subversive.

Well, it looks like you got a good share of nonsense answers from the Christian crew. I steer clear of the word heaven, since it implies so much separation, a different place that we go to, like when we die, we all line up at the security gates and get on a plane that takes us up, GAWD, they are so childish!

When we die, we either don't exist anymore and there isn't a darn thing we can do about it, or something happens to our spirits and we can't possibly figure that out while we are alive no matter how much we want to know, so I say, just swim in the pool while the water is nice and warm and when you get out and towel off, you will be able to say you had a good swim!

How philosophical!

Bright Blessings,

Where In the Bible doest it say that Heaven is Within?
The scriptures are the only valid source of truth that we can go to. They contain the words of life. Jesus had to die to go to heaven. When He was on the cross he said to the thief; "today you will be with me in paradise". 1 Peter 3:19-21 says he went to preach the gospel to the spirits in Prison.
1 Corinthians 15:40-41 talks about Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial, Kingdoms as types of heavens.

So anyways your incredibly confused about heaven. This life is definitely not heaven. We cannot go there now. This life is the time to prepare to meet God so we can get to heaven. We will be judged according to our works just like the bible says. We are saved by grace after all we can do.

Just a point: 'get' and 'got' are from roots that mean 'born'. Round here we may still call a person a 'get' (or 'git) to signify that they were born bad, or badly.

I'm interested in whether Christians really think that no-one else in history has suffered more that JC is supposed to have; or died for a loving or just cause, and to save others. Did you see what was done to Guy Fawkes? I imagine such things happen all the time, and some of 'em must be greater tragedies than JC's, where he was positively asking for it at the time, and seems to have expected some divine intervention to rescue him at the last moment.

Well, I was raised as a Muslim in a secular family but now I'm an atheist so my definition of "Heaven" is what people like Gandhi, Dr. King, Mother Theresa have preached..pacifism and service to humankind.

I don't believe in a life beyond this and whatever life that you live i.e. good or bad will end with you. You can try to promote peace and love among people or you can drop bombs on them. The choice is YOURS! But you're in HELL as far as I am concerned.

To me, holocaust or dropping bombs from airplanes in Iraq that kill innocent people are equally despicable acts. What's the difference between an Israeli kid killed in a park with a shrapnel wound or a Palestinian kid killed in a street with an Israeli bullet? Who has the moral superiority? How can you justify that? And if you have learned to justify killings of such nature, then you're already in hell.

Sister,
This is a wonderful question. As we know the God/Goddess are also within. I think perhaps this is what this God was trying to tell his people. That when they look for God, heaven, salvation, healing, love etc... to look within and not just without themselves. When we were created we were given the ability within ourselves to find what we need. When we call upon the Goddess or God they show us the the way to reach within ourselves to find the strength to do what we need with their help.
There is a Christian quote that says "God helps those who help themselves"

Heaven is a place our soul will go to when we die. Heaven doesnt have a location or anything like that. God puts us here for reasons. Just like he put Jesus here to save us from our sins so we can go to Heaven. Our purpose here is to fulfill what God sent us here to do. He didnt put me and you here just for fun. He had a reason. Now I am def. not a mastermind but that is what, from my years at church, what I believe in soul is right.

Moondown, as you can EASILY see, they simply are unable to actualy USE the Brains that "God" has given them. They can ONLY use the Bible to answer. They NEED someone else to actually TELL them WHAT to think, HOW to think and WHEN to think.

Come ON people, we KNOW what it says in the Bible. The Bible is NOT for sale to ONLY Christians, it's available to anyone who has the money to put on the counter and PURCHASE it. She asked for YOUR thoughts on her question, NOT what the Bible SAYS, what YOU think. She's NOT asking for EVEIDENCE for your thinking, simply for your OWN thoughts on the subject. So far, out of ALL the answers, only ONE has used her OWN words to say whatr she thinks. The REST of you have dragged out your Bibles and quoted from it directly. Based on that, you FAILED to answer her question. NOW, if I were a Christian MY answerd would look something like this:

"While SOME folks are ABLE to achieve the inner sense of Heaven by seeking it within themselves, the VAST majority of us are unable to do so. WE may not all have that ability. It takes being born of a divine nature to be able to accomplish that task. We are NOT born of divinity therefore we just do NOT have that ability."

No, was that so hard to do? Not a single Bible quote, I used my own brain to come up0 with an answer. No, it probably doesn't meet with ALL the concepts of Christianity BUT, it DOES meet the criteria of the question, and THAT was all that was asked. Thoughts, not quotes, not evidence, just THOUGHTS!

Moondown, I just don't think that you're going to get any original thinking on this one, *Shrugs* nice try though.

Why do you feel the need to ask questions like this? It is obvious you will not accept the answers Christians give no matter what they say. You obviously have your beliefs so give others the courtesy to believe what they want without you "taunting" them about it. God Bless.
