I'll pass on the turtle approach - thanks. Besides that's how 9-11 came about

Depends on the terrorists. 9/11, for instance, was really an attempt to get U.S. forces out of Saudi Arabia, like we did to Japan in WWII. That attack was provoked, and to that end, I beleive a truce could be made (possible even one where we get Osama). In any case, we're attacking the terrorists all wrong. It is not, and never has been a military issue: we should solve it as we do other crime. Launching a full-scale war against an (mostly) innocent country breeds only hate and anger, which tends to increase terrorism.

BTW, Cindi: What was up with that comment about Islam. Just because the radicals get the limelight, it doesn't mean that the entire religion is screwed up.

I don't think its possible to stop them all "ever".

They are so many and so wide spread that as soon as one is nabbed, another one is beginning.

Its a endless cycle and the only way to stop it is by enforcing the international laws and getting countries to communicate with the U.S.and to let us know when and where a terrorist cell is living.

Breaking each one down until law and order is restored.

All countries must be on the same page in order for this to be a successful mission.

Iraq war is demonstrating that no matter how many troops we send over, it will never be enough to get rid of the terrorist cells that hide and wait for (9-11) opportunities. Lets not have that happen again, cooperate and set are arms down and come to a peaceful resolution. (this is wishful thinking).
Reality is we are at war and we will continue fighting this war and others to come. Because, the United Nations don't have the balls to help us. So, we send over more and more of our troops and then when countries like Canada, needs our help because terrorist reside there, thats when they should of been along side of us all along. Your either with us or your not.
Time to roll the dice and hope your loved one come home.
Its that real!

Islamics and such are not interested in peace only terrorizing.

We should keep an eye open to the communist countries not just Islam nation.

NO, but there is a big difference between fighting them outright, and making the fighters easy targets, giving them a more visual talking point for their terrorist recruiting propoganda, killing non-miliatry targets, and giving any country that wants to wage war for the purpose of ethnic cleansing an excuse to do so under a guise of anti-terrorism.
Most of the biggest gains compared to the costs, that has occured on terrorism have been with the use of counter-terrorist intelligence, and covert operations. (siezing their funds, secret surviellence of front operations, followed by swift intervention etc)

If you are referring to Iraq, most of the people our troops are fighting, are insurgents, and foriegn fighters, while the real terrorists lie in the shadows pretending to be religous leaders, and guiding their motivation.

These "religous leaders", and i'm not referring to all islamic religous leaders, just a select few, are using the invasion itself to reinforce their propaganda, giving them a vast resource of bodies to commit the actions we are trying to prevent. So we are knocking a few leaves off the tree, and maybe a limb once in a while, but never really getting to the root of the problem.

The only way to cure this problem is to sit down at the table with these countries who support, and harbor these fanatic leaders" and convince them that we aren't seeking to disrupt their way of life, or control them, only promote a more civilized way of dealing with problems, so they'll give up these fanatic killers and disarm militant muslims. A goal that is made impossible, by threatening them on other issues. Afterall, would we as Americans, give up someone we view as a necessary evil against a greater threat to our Constitution?

The best thing Bush has done so far, in this war on uncivilized acts of religious fanaticism, is change the way CIA is allowed to interrogate them. Afterall, how can you convince people you aren't "The Great Evil" if you are desicrating their religion.
I am not much of a religious type, but i can just imagine the hatred it would cause in me, if i were, and someone were to desicrate by beliefs.

First we need to get our own forces home.
We should protect ourselves on our own ground.
We should not pursue into any but our own ground.
We should not utter their name or acknowledge their existence, or in any way indicate that they even exist.
As they exist only by our acknowledgment. For if they did then they could be found and destroyed.
They simply create a ghost for us to chase and spend our money. Their idea is to break the bank and I might say that under the present situation there are doing what they set out to do.

The oil is better for us all if it is left in the ground where it belongs and where life on this planet has been burying it in the form of carbon since the formation of our planet. We are soon to find our why it is being buried.
God help us!

Yes. Because we can never get rid of crazy people. If we continue to fight every terrorist organization. we would be at war for ever and a day. What we have to do is prepare for such acts of terrorism. Which will inevitably will come. Don't let the current administration fool you. You know how long the 9/11 hijackers where planing their attack. Over five years. Don't get me wrong I don't want to be attacked again. But to believe in this notion that we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here is wrong. Those terrorist over there are still killing U.S. citizens. It is a lose lose situation.

the war on terrorism is designed to never end, unless you take a micro-chip in your brain, a mark on your head and become a slave.. sept. 11 attacks killed 3000 people and we have given up many of our rights. the drug Vioxx killed an estimated 25,000 people and possibly up to 75,000.. do you see the government doing anything about big pharma?? Meanwhile, the vaccines we get have MERCURY!! in them causing 1 out of 100 children to become AUTISTIC!! what do they do about it? Bush is going to Veto the bill that would stop it!! Govt. does not care about you it only cares about them, you should be a good lil guinea pig and a good little slave. It's all about Fear and controlling the population to the point of enslavement.

absolutely not. thats like not defending yourself against a bully or in a fight....theyll just beat you down until they take what they want or youre dead. its not gunna make peace, its going to let them take advantage of what will be weakness, no matter what YOU call it, they will take make it work for them...and then throngs of people who arent sure would start joining them because alqaeda and mujahadin and all the rest of those guys could say look world, we defeated the mighty american armyt...join us and we can take on the world...and then youll have a real shiza storm on your hands. fact is, when youre facing an enemy who wants to kill you no matter whether youre a soldier, civilian, athiest christian muslim etc etc, only because youre an american or because you dont believe in what they believe, they will kill you. no ifs ands or buts. ive seen it here man. these people stay at me, people who tried to shoot me ten minutes prior and were wounded or captured, they stare at me with eyes of hope, just wishing i would slip and give them the chance to throttle my throat. americans dont see it cause theyre so far removed from the combat, and the media gets it all wrong. these people dont jsut want to fight the armies of the west, they truly have ambitions to transform the world into a radical muslim world. you go ahead and stop fighting them, you may as well cut your own head off, like every other american they get their hands on.....dont ask me or my paratroopers to come to your aid when they destroy your life

No we can't stop fighting them or they,ll end up organizeing another 9 11. It's just how do we find away to do it without so many troops over there and so many being killed? Thats the question.

No NEVER!!!

Besides, it would and could never happen anyway, logically speaking, if we gave into terrorist organisations and they got everything they wanted, then that might affect other terrorist groups which would in turn cause fighting and wars between them.

I can't even be bothered to go into detail, the answer is blindingly obvious!!!

Well its too late for that we cant just pull out. If we come home they we'll follow us. Frankly I think if we fight terrorists in their own country their damaging themselves by using car bombs etc.. contrary to them being here and killing Canadian or American Citizens.
