Faith n Hope is the only thing that can destroy negetivity. Smtimes i've found that even a very weak blind faith that everything will be better raises some hope n gives us enough strength to fight back.. just like the small flickering flame of the candle can brighten up the picture.. But i think n many a times i have realised that we are the ones who are inviting negetivity... coz in this universe there is as much positivity or many times more positivity than negetive things. Then it all depends on us, which one we choose, no matter whatever the circumstances are, the reaction to circumstances is always in our hand, we can choose to see that the glass is half empty or half full.. :))

I dont know if you can do this but this frankly works, but please remember its going to take some time to achieve this. Place an oil lamp in a dark room and sit infront of it making some good time in the early morning like 5:00 AM. Please make sure that you finish all your regular activities (natural calls and bath) before you start this, seeing the flame deeply rhythm any sequence you like (eg: OM). Initially you may do this for just 2 to 3 mins but keep working till you reach 15 to 20 mins. Also remember you should also have positive approach to things to dominate the negativity around you.

Best solution to your question is, if we see the true nature of all things you'll not be suffered from any negativity at all... but for the regular people like myself :-) what should we do between now and the moment of enlightenment??

I discovered it's much easier to deal with negative people than deal with negative situation. Any negative people, I take one step back then I can understand why that people would behave like that... wrong program, angry at not receiving enough love, or just in bad mood... If I try hard, I can understand one person at a time.
For difficult situations... (just heard 23 Koreans who volunteered in Afghanistan were kidnapped and now threatened to death...) I frankly don't know. I pray God that my love toward them can be transmitted over, even my love is tiny and small. What else can I do? Tell me, I'm ready to listen.

I believe that what you concentrate on and think about a lot you will draw to you.

So if you are constantly thinking of negativity around you, even if you are thinking of how to get rid of it, then you will still attract more of it to you.

Definitely religion and faith help in this very much. We can absorb ourselves so much in all the many aspects of Krsna, the words of saints, the beauty of our great philosophies etc., and we don't have any room to think of negative things.

Of course if you are not trying to be positive, you can think of the negative aspects of religion, (like how many sins you are doing, how bad that person is, not following, this that etc) then you will be stuck there once again.

But there is so much more positive than negative, we just have to get out of the habit of turning the curios ear where negativity resides..
Tune yourself up with the happy tunes
:-)

Some negative things can and should be dealt with in a practical manner. If there is something that is wrong, speak up and try to change it. Every situation is different, so you have to think about how best to approach it.
Spirituality does help when you ask for guidance. But the action is still what you have to do.

Having negativity around has double benefits; first it makes us aware of our own negativity, as it is we who have attracted it to our life, we might feel like saint, but the truth of our life shows the true picture of us all, always.

Second only when we have negativity around do we get better at handling it, within and without. After all, only thing we have to ultimately accept is our own self, and self acceptance is freedom.

That is why, Sant Kabir says, Keep your critics close to you, as they cleanse you the fastest. This includes people who irritate you, who know all your 'buttons' or simply those make you aware of your dark side.

What a gift they are from the Universe.

Though we are hardly ever willing to receive them.

the negativity i am often conrfonted with are complaints / judgements / blaming the other, these actions are strangely enough from someone i loved. My reaction is that i first try to listen a bit and react as fully as possible, then when all things are said , and the compaints continue, i dont answer much anymore, i just pretend to listen and try to give 'the conversation' another turn .

Great question brother!

I'm not a perfect believer and I don't wanna pretend to be
Every time, every step in our life we will always find negativity around us, and sometimes it's easy to deal, but it's often difficult to deal

I always try to stay around good people that will remind me to be aware about negativity that may affect me.

And I always try to remember about the aim of this life, to be loved by God

Dear Aum

There is so much negativity out there in this mad world & you are in the middle of much of its madness. You have bombs dropping around you, death & destruction. I have trees, birds & silence.
I felt so dragged down by the madness of the world that I had to stop watching the news. Im not proud to admit this, but I had to do this for my own sanity.
I am therefore in a privilaged position & it is easy for me to answer this question considering my lifestyle.
How do I deal with negativity? Im lucky enough to say I don't have much of it in my life. When I do come across negativity, I become the detatched observer. I just remind myself that they are simply playing out their drama & there is no need for me to become involved. Very difficult for those who are surrounded by it, I know.
One of my spiritual teachers always says negativity is an opportunity to learn & grow.

With much love, good wishes & blessings to you.
