Very unlikely that the ever forgiving God would order someone put to death. It is more likely done by the local bullies because he wouldn't pay a commission or fee for the privilege of gathering sticks needed for his survival.

The Sabbath does not allow for daily routine work. For example, your job or housework. However, if there is any emergency, we need people such as firemen, policemen, etc.

my point exactly! so what do we do? kill everyone? that's exactly what has to be done if you start in with those rules! NOBODY can carry that load...

so in other words Exodus it is OK to stone someone just because you think you thought and have the backing of the church or local cult?
