I believe there's too many contradictions in the bible. The bible says that man should work to eat. That implies that unemployment is a sin. So should unemployed men not go to church? I'll probably get reported for this but oh well.

I would hope that no one reports you; you're using critical thought and applying it to the folklore of today. That's how we get past things like burning witches at the stake and slavery.

Such things should be rewarded, not punished.

No, the admonishment is not for the unemployed, but for those willfully lazy.

2Thess 3:6-12 "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat.

Are you asking me if I believe in stay at home Mr. Mom? The answer is no. Men should work and provide for their families. The man is the head of the family like God is head of the church. Unemployed men should find work anyway they can - even if it means mowing yards.

When you work does that cover unemployment insurance....it is a given. It says if a man does not work he does not eat....that covers a lot ot territory. If a man does not read the word of God how can he share the gospel?

A lazy man is sinful. That is what it implies.

The bible was not written by one person (mark luke etc are followers thoughts). Also the bible was changed by many popes that ordered previous versions burnt. How well it reflects the perspective of JC / GOD in its current form is hard to deduce ( if possible at all).

"Should" does NOT mean "must".

If you are unemployed but have sought work, how can there be a sin?

You make John Calvin look like a liberal with that attitude.

Report you? Nah. Not worth the effort.

But, do yourself and the rest of us a favor, will you please? THINK before you waste cyberspace next time.

Very philosophical, but the bible is not contradictory if read as psychological metaphor from the perspective of physics. And, don't say I'm being contradictory!

Actually, there are no contradictions in the Bible. You have to dig around to find the explanation for the "contradiction".

GOD bless

Well, there might be free food there.

So why not. Hell I would even go to a church if I were starving or something and ran out of shoes to eat.
