I think "the age of picies" is the only one who got it.

Chris: I agree. And I did use my cut-and-paste function but changed one word.

Skeptic, that you copied his question almost to the word is evident in that you make the same typo... it should be "how can anyone possibly disbelieve."
Silly isn't it, to say that a small probability should dictate one's faith or not in God.

You are saying a variant of Pascal's Wager, which is a fallacy. Extraordinary claims of invisible sky-pixies are beyond long-odds, they conflict with other equally likely outcomes such as the invisible hidden "spiritual" universe the religious keep on jawing about is full of Cosmic God-Swiffers, God-Eating Zombie-Monsters, and Celestial High-School Kids Who Bear It All In Silence Until One Day They Snap, Go Out And Buy A Gun, And Shoot Up Gods.
Clearly, how can a god survive a hidden realm like that? But I am confident we don't have to speculate about hidden things. Only ignorance creates the need to postulate invisible things. Scientists go out and make the invisible plain. X-rays, planets past Saturn, all discovered by scientists. They have the monopoly on invisible things and they have not turned up any place for God to hide in. Religious people by contrast just do endless speculation boosted by arm-twisting tactics. They have not actually added to our human knowledge and their idle speculations are to be TOTALLY DISREGARDED.
Clearly, in the face of the confusion and mania of the religious, the wise bet is to live your life as if there is NO God, NO spirit, and NO soul.

How could anyone possibly BELIEVE?
1 Timothy 6:1 - "1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered."
Genesis 3:16 - "To the woman he said, 'I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'"
Exodus 35:2 – " For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death."
Does anyone ever bother actually reading this stuff? I tell you what: If there's even a 1% chance that this monster exists, you go right on worshiping Him. I, on the other hand, will be more comfortable thinking of death as a definitive ending of my existance.

There's a one percent chance Santa Claus had an affair with the Easter Bunny. I guess I should believe that.

sure....if there is a 1% chance for the god of the koran being real then this is true for all other gods too.......so which should I pick?
Plus I think 1% is a hugely high percentage....
I'm going with the invisible pink unicorn anyway....it's prettier.

Because Man has screwed everything else up that we have touched, how do you know the when Man wrote the Bible, they didn't screw that up too? There are too may factors pointing to half truths and mistakes. The NT contradicts itself numerous times.

explain the 1 % chance that it's true please, then I'd be happy to believe. Santa Claus and Easter Bunny turned out to be lies as well when I grew up. When humankind grows up, will God still be true?

because i have something called "common sense" which tells me otherwise. that same "common sense" tells me there is no such thing as a tooth fairy or santa clause, so why would i believe in a greater mythical being that i've never seen either?

One percent is grossly inflated. Try 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

This is perhaps the dumbest reason that I have ever heard for believing, but it does support my contention that fear is the driving force in religion. Thanks for the support.
