I'd hope they'd have better things to do than watch me every second of every minute of every day. Otherwise, this afterlife stuff sounds pretty boring to me. Not to mention, gross: why else is there a door on the bathroom? Because not everyone wants to watch what you're doing in there--we have a vague idea, and vague is good enough for most people! So to be forced into watching a relative who is taking a dump... this is the reward religion promises? What fuels this fire?

In truth, we miss those we've lost. It dulls the pain somewhat to believe that they are still with us (in fact, we sometimes hear: "She's still with us in spirit") and somehow interacting on our days. Rather than face death's finality, we create a way for it to seem less harsh. We're satisfying a very basic need: Self preservation! Since we love others, we extend that need to them as well. Think about it--do you believe your dead neighbor is watching you right now? Of course not. You might have liked that person... but love? That's a little strong, isn't it? Even if you don't have a dead neighbor, the logic applies to anyone: a cashier at one of your favorite stores... the guy at Jiffy Lube that changed your oil... your parent's family doctor... you don't imagine one of these people peeking over your shower curtain, do you?

I think of the people I was close to in life that have passed over as being able to see me no matter where I'm at. I don't have a problem with being watched, hope you like what you see.

My ancestors are dead and gone. If they could watch over something it sure as hell wouldn't be me.

I think they are watching over me. It gives me comfort to believe that they care.

You could have left off the shower part in your little attempt to be cute, though.

Nowhere. The dead are "asleep" in the grave knowing nothing until Judgment Day.

God Bless!
