Because God also has put hate and animosity in the presence of love and grace. Our job as humans is to attempt to survive. We have to find out what is compatible with what we want in our lives and beings are a mixed bag of grace and love and hate and animosity because beings are human with experience and prejudice.
So how do I accept someone's love when I know that they can be a source of animosity also? How do I determine whether their animosity is acceptable unto me so that I can accept their love also? If I say that I accept their love, will that mean that they expect that since they are this same being, that I must be saying that I also accept their animosity?
God did not just put grace and love here, that is the problem! That is why it is so hard.

Because of people such as some of the ones who answered already, people would define us as crazy, but I tell the truth, I would rather be found crazy with God in this world than to be found sane with no God in hell. Look at the codes in the Bible and the miracles done every day, and tell me I shouldn't call everyone blind or crazy for not seeing. Religion was shown to prove what was already there, not to disprove it. I just hope there will come a time when religion would be taken seriously, but until then God forgive.

because we are human, as moses said the way is easy, for example. in the book of genisis, when moses was leading the tribe of isreal to the promised land and they were all sick and dying all they had to do was look at the seprent staff. most couldn't look, they couldn't believe.
often times we think that God's love and grace could never apply to us, because of some reason or another, when all we have to do is look, believe even if we can only desire to believe that is a start and eventually that desire will turn into belief and faith and then becomes a sure knowledge.
we as humans always make the easy way look harder than it is, it is almost like we want to punish ourselves or that it has to be hard.

Our society today has issues accepting something that they can't touch and see. I was raised as a christian, and I believe in God's saving grace. I was conditioned to see these thing in everyday situations, but I am not a majority in this country. With so many bad things that happen (like wars, poverty, starving kids in 3rd world country's, murder, rape, and the list goes on) it is hard to believe that God is Love, and many people blame God for these and other problems. But we just need to remember that everything happens for a reason, and it is all part of God's plan for us in our lives.

Some people have never been loved or taken in and had someone be there for them in life so they do not know how to receive genuine love and trust from God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ. From people who really love God.<><

Because his messengers (evangelists) are often the opposite of what God offers. They make people feel that God only loves them if they act a certain way, or believe a certain thing, or mail in money to continue the ministry... Almost everyone has heard of God, there is no need to evangelize.

The messengers spoil the message many times. One person trying to convert with threats of hellfire tends to outweigh twenty who are peaceful and loving.

Because our interaction with limited, dysfunctional people teach us otherwise. We are spiritual beings having a physical experience and no one is immune to this 'unloving, un-peaceful' programming during childhodd development. Transcending this learned defensiveness is the return to unity with the Divine which is unique to each soul.

I'm sorry, I wasn't even going to respond to this question until I saw an aswer by someone calling themselves "Gandalf".
He said, "I'd have to buy into a delusion" about believing in God.
This from someone who idolizes a fictional magic-user in a make-believe realm. I guess then it was too bad Tolkien didn't write a book about God.

Maybe it's because you don't believe in God? What is your religion? We do not know what you have been through. Is it because of your past experiences that made you not accepting his love and grace? Only you know the answer.
