Absolutely. You have to keep a "dressing" on it to keep the material flexible and water resistant. It should all be a part of regularly washing and waxing the rest of your car. It won't make it last forever, but it may last longer than you need it to.

Yes it will, but with proper care and maintenance a convertible top will last a long time.

yeah if you leave it to sit for any long period of time it will rot for sure

yes but cleaning and treating with water sealers and parking under cover when possible will make it last longer
