Set them straight. Let them all know that you are not going out. Maybe invite them along as well so it is a group outting instead of just a one on one thing. Or just let them think whatever it is that they think. I wouldnt let it bug me because I wouldnt think it is really their business in the first place.

My guess is that you are very young. I am 24. My best friend is a boy. We became best friends when we were 5. In our case, we had been best friends for so long, no body ever thought any different. We even dated a couple of times and people still always just saw it as "Matt and Melissa are just best friends." People never took us seriously when we dated because they could see that we were just friends. And as it turns out, they were right. But to this day we are still best friends. I am married, and he is engaged. I now teach first grade. Every year I invite him to my classroom to talk to my students about being a Paramedic. We also talk about how friendships are important and how we met when we were their age and are still friends now that we are grown ups.

If this is a new "best friend", it may be clear to your friends that one of you has a crush on the other.

If that is not the case, you both just need to sit your friends down and explain to them that you are just friends. But then you can't send them mixed signals by holding hands or kissing.... It needs to be a clearly defined relationship. Over time, your friends will get used to it. Especially when one of you starts dating another person and remains best friends.

And what is so "bad" about all his friends thinking you are going out with him?

If they can't understand the friendship - who really cares? As long as you two are happy with the friendship - who cares what anyone else thinks?

You do know that a guy and a girl can be friends without being bf and gf. Most of my best friends are girls.

well first things first...

do you like him? like you know, a crush or something???
cause if you do, ask him how he feels about you...

but if you treat him like a brother, puh-lease, don't mind what they are thinking about you two.

Just be like what you always are...
and he'll be the same...
