i want to apply to med school but they do crb checks before hand, now when i was 17 i got convicted. If i was to change my name on my driving licence (which i got after the conviction was spent) will that enable be me to avoid detection.

Reason i ask is my friend changed his first name but not his last and on the crb respose letter it had not known his changed name nor did it pick up one of his names in his double barole surname.Change had been done 2yrs before he had the crb check.

He got caught because he had still used his exisiting surname
Are the dvla linked to the crb pcm check database i.e. notify as soon as a change happens

Best to say so. I do not think it will matter, you have not been violent (I hope) I tke it you have led a blameless life since then (or not been caught) It was not a sexual offence so I do not think they wil reegard you as a menace.

I had three convictions on mine.

1. Parking
2. Going throug a red light
3. Speeding
Total 9 points so due to spacing it was over 10 years before the points diappeared

No problem with CRB form

I FORGOT MY PASSWORD it all good saying tell them the turth and im sure if i phone and ask they will give me a PC answer but why would they give me a chance when hundreds of students with perfect grades like me but without a conviction face rejection, to answer 6 i did not got to prison plus the crime was false accounting, now how does that sound no way can i tell them that.

all i need is to get through the first four years if i past the first cbr surely i should past the rest, then get the degree and leave this country

this is the UK not the states over there aleast you can block it

You cannot avoid detection. All previous names will be held on the PNC (Police National Computer). You would get found out eventually as CRB checks are very thorough.

Most states have a system for expunging your criminal record after final disposition. And it's legal. Check with your attorney. It doesn't do much for your credibility as a doctor if later it is discovered that you "avoided detection".

If you attempted this and got away with it to begin with but at some distant point in the future your deception was uncovered it could be potentially disaterous for your studies or career and of course could lead to criminal prosecution... again.

they will pick it up no matter what, but dont worry as the conviction may not stop you from going to meds school depending on what its for. if its speeding or something classified small it shouldnt matter but if is murder youre screwed. just be honest and if asked fess up they may still accept you.

Here is an idea try being honest for once and not hide from your past. You messed up and did your time be honest and stop running from the past.
