Yah, so I bought a car for the price of 19,200, but after tax and all these other fees, the car I wanted to purchase came out to be a little over 22,900 dollars, here in MN... Does this seem correct? Tax and licensing and everything should not be over 3000, should it? I am wondering what other fees the dealership may have charged me for? It's a brand new car, by the way.

Those a**holes at car dealerships will ALWAYS add on extra warranties and stuff you didn't ask for. They just hope you will sign without reading.

Take your sale price $19,200 multiply that number by your sales tax rate. say 8% for good measure. There is $1,500 in sales tax. Registration can run from $15 to $500 depending on what bought. $55 documentation fee (this can vary. but its mandated at $55 in CA.) and if you added any accessories like paint protectant, warranties, maintenance, window tint ect. So, technically you could spend easy $3,000 in fees but not likely. Read the breakdown of your contract. If there is itemized accessories that they have not done (like window tint or paint protect) you can get a refund if they dont complete the service. If a warranty or a maintenance contract you can cancel and get refund. READ YOUR CONTRACT.

It should be itemized on the invoice. They add sales tax, registration fees, dealer prep, $3000 does seem a bit steep. $2000 might be more reasonable. Ask the sallesperson to explain, in detail, all the extra fees.

5% sales tax is only $960.00 so it looks like you have several additional fees added to your invoice. As stated before you should have an itemized invoice with every chargeable item listed. You should have gone over this document line for line with the Finance Manager before you signed it.

Once the car is delivered, it's all on you.

Yes, it's entirely possible. It should be itemized on the purchase agreement. If you thought it was incorrect, you shouldn't have waited until after the fact.

Didn't you read the contract? Everything is listed there. Why would you sign something you don't understand?
