, Ya, you didn't phrase your Q very good. If what you mean is you are employed, like a secretary, where sometimes you have idle time, then you should look around the office to see who you CAN help. There's always somebody who needs assistance.
"Hi. Can I help you with that?" Even ask the boss, they usually love to see their employees working since that's what they're paid to do. If allowed, you might just go online and read the world news, or go to the company's web site and see what's going on there. . Make yourself USEFUL . .

Go to the bathroom.

Start Cleaning your area.

Get a snack or Drink.

Seek additional work from your supervisor.

Something I do not recommend is for you to look for another job while at work. You might be breaking company rules and get fired or yelled at!

I am like the guy on office space. I would just hang out and talk smack with my co-workers maybe a prank or two like filling my co-workers gloves with grease or weld a chain around their tool box and go to lunch and go back and talk about what is happening after work that evening

Make sure your resume is up to date, use the time you would be working to apply for work. Most newspapers are online, and there are several good sites to help you find work, ...hotjobs, monster.com, careerbuilder.com etc
