heres my plan:

*everyday i take the kids to the park for an hour or so and sit there, so now on the way back home we could take a 25-30 minute walk.

*around 7 am i usually take my dog for a 10 minute walk around the blow, so i was thinking i could take him for an 30-45 minute walk each morning.

*i am off from college this summer so i have basically all day free. i am thinking about doing a pilates/yoga combo for 30 minutes following a 15 minute walk on the treadmill.

suggestions?

Consider how the kids will react to walking 30 min to get home. Depending on their ages, they could get moody or downright exhausted. Besides being rough on them, your pace would be interrupted by having to console, retrieve and or carry them home.

The dog walk sounds good, but again, unforeseen interruptions could slow your pace and negate maximum benefit.

The best one sounds like the Pilate's/yoga and treadmill. It's a solitary activity and you can set your own pace. You won't have to worry about anything except how robust you want to be. Maybe increase the treadmill to 30 minutes?

Good luck!

You are on the right track, but let's take it a little further.

While at the park PLAY with the kids. Run with them, climb with them. Do games with them. Throw balls, etc.

Don't walk the dog - run the dog....good for you both!

Pilates and yoga are definitely good for you, but classes usually last for an hour and you may want to do it more than once a week. Why not take a cardio class another day of two?

You need to combine, cardio, weight / strength training, and flexibility.

Good luck!

The walking is very good. The minimal time for the walk is 15 minutes. The stretching is best done when the muscles are warm. The longer walks with you dog are a great idea. Remember that both you and your pet need water and perhaps some gradual adjustment in the time should be considered.

That sounds pretty good! Lots of cardio, which is very healthy. You might want to add in a little resistance training (weight lifting) as well. It will help tone muscles, increase strength and improve bone density. Good Luck.
