New Career as a federal or state detective/agent?

I would like to find out what is the process that one must go through to become a special agent in federal govt, without having to go through general state police work. Is there such a way? and what degree is most likely to get you there? In Australia.

Bachelor of Arts in Criminology is the right course that is needed for the job of a special agent. You can also study law to know the validity of investigation and evidence gathering.
