The truck is hard to start. I wait for the start engine light to go out then turn key. It is hard starting, and when it starts it sounds like it is no firing on all cylinders and the rpm stays low. Even trying to give it more gas, the rpm's the stay low. after a min or two it smothes out,and I hit the gas pedal and the rpm goes up.

When is the last time the oil was changed? Low oil level or thick contaminated oil can cause a hard start. The fuel injectors on your engine are fired by oil pressure. IT could also be a failing injector causing the problem, and the glow plug operation should be checked as well. It could be a few different things, but checking the oil condition would be the easiest to start with. If the oil checks out ok, it may be time to have it professionally diagnosed.

You may have a clogged fuel filter and or injectors, change the filter and add an injector cleaner to the fuel. If that doesn't help, a proffesional cleaning or (worse) new injectors may need to be installed. A complete check of the fuel system should be done also. don't forget to change the air filter.

could be an injector bleeding off oil preasure over night, but most of the time that happens it will take a while for the oil preasure to build up and will most of the time die, then it takes for ever to start. it could also be the high preasure oil pump going out. those things have to hold so much preasure to start and the a different amount of preasure to operate the injector on. but i would chek and change my fluid and filters to start with.

I would try changing the oil and replacing the air and fuel filters. I'm not accusing you of anything but I did notice that it is an F550 and sometimes the larger trucks like that are neglected on maintenance.

Check the glow-plugs. It will only take one or two to cause the problem. An indication is the glow-plug relay will only cycle for a few seconds.
