i got a sty on tuesday and it's sunday now. it's gone down considerably in swelling since i first got it but i can still feel a little bump and it hurts when i blink really hard. it's hard to see if the sty has popped/drained because it's on the inside of my upper eye lid.
i've had styes before and they clear up on their own but this one seems to be hanging around. (oh yeah, this is not a reoccurring sty!) i've done the warm compresses and kept it clean but it's still there. so is it normal for styes to take this long to heal? or should i go to the doctor? regular doctor or eye doctor? i'm cringing at the possibility of getting it lanced! i would appreciate any help!

Take a q-tip, soak it in extremely hot water (as hot as you can tolerate), pull down your eyelid and place it on the sty. Use a fresh side or fresh q-tip and repeat until all the fluid has been drawn out.

I would check to see if it is an ingrown hair. Get a magnifying glass or reading glasses and see if you can see it. I've heard this is common in diabetics, but, I don't know.

My grandma would pack Blue Bonnett Butter into my eye and cover it with Snoopy bandaids, so it wasn't noticable, then after a couple days or so it would be gone. It works, believe me.
