If your PC has a problem reading the data there's a good chance it is so corrupt that no-one will read it, but as it is NOT a DVD+RW you won't be able to delete anything on it... it is readable not re-writable. Check the make/model of your actual hardware (the DVD Drive) and on the manufactureres website they will give you a list of recommended more compatible discs to use as not all are full compatible with all writers. My own DVD writers fails whenever i attempt to use ipaq discs for data backup... but tesco's cheapest ones i could find work fine.

Use a CD Burner like CD Burner XP Pro(Free)
Erase a DVD-RW with that

Note:if the Disc is DVD-R It wont erase.

Sorry mate you can't just delete one item off the dvd r you have to format and lose all information on the dvd. Their is software now where you can drag and drop items to the dvd disc and delete them individually. Roxio software is what you need .

If they ARE dvd-rw open your burning program (like Nero) and choose 'erase this dvd-rw" but that is only for DVD RW
DVD-R are not rewritable.
