Travelling to Perth, WA, from the UK in August .....?

Question

.... and not a seasoned air traveller! Appreciate your advice on :
(1) We are getting our connecting flight at Dubai as a stopover for 2-3 hours where we will stay in the airport. Both journies will be with Emirates. Do we collect our bags as normal and re-check in on the connecting flight or are the bags automatically transferred for us?
(2) As the Oz voltage is the same, do we need adaptors for hairdryers, chargers etc?
May sound silly questions, but when you've never done it, you've never done it! Sensible answers only please..... cheers!

1. Your bags should transfer automatically to the ongoing flight. You only have to wait for the boarding call and get onto the plane. If Emirates live up to the norm with your baggage transfer, one bag will end up in Vladivostok, the others will probably end up in the marketplace in Abu Dhabi!

Just joking!

2. The voltage here is 240v and if needed, you can buy adaptor sets at the airport (expensive) or at major stores like KMart or Target who have stores all over the city.

With connecting flights your baggage is checked through to the destination. You will need to carry your hand luggage with you and these days you will finf#d that yiou have to undergo another security check in even though you were only in transit.

The voltage is the same but you will need adaptors as the Aus/NZ ystem uses a different plug confiuration to ours in the UK.

Have a spiffing time old thing and think of us here in wet old Blighty !!!

ask about your luggage when you check in at the airport as some airlines DO NOT transfer your luggage though most do
you can by a plug adaptor in most large stores in oz
