It wasn't a different Jesus, just each writer was presenting Him to a different audience in ways they could relate to.

Victoria, is it a different Jesus or a different story. Here is an example with you included. You and your home girls witnessed an event for about thirty minutes.

Five days later, each of you tell what happened. Did you know that some will tell more than others? One or two girls will only want to highlight certain points and skip the small stuff. On the other hand, there is always one who exaggerates because it is her personality to do so.

The gospel writers, like your friends, are not liars but people telling their own story in their own voices. It is not a different Jesus but a different person who is telling the story.

LOL... well, you definitely see a hint of each one's personal talent/skill/interest in the WAY they present Jesus and the Gospel.... The doctor tends to have a slant more towards the healing aspect, the tax collector has a more no-nonsense approach, the fishermen tend to have a leaning toward using descriptive words from their occupation, those with any particular "thorn in the fesh" tend to stress certain area's that they are able to witness about because they know what people are going through in those area's, etc., and those of the old Jewish beliefs have another insight that also works well for Jew and Gentiles alike....

Because of this, each looked upon the ministry with different aspects of it "highlighted" because of their particular insight.

Writers God chose for the Old Testament and New Testament was very carefully chosen for just such a reason, (my own personal opinion).... and that's why it WORKS so well! :)

Peace to you all :)

When people witness an incident that requires police investigation... and they interview the witnesses... every witness will have seen the same event... but every witness will have a different vantage point and vastly different mind set... and so... in recalling what they saw... colours may differ... tone of voice and the exact wording will be different... as will timing... how many minutes/seconds the event lasted... and many other discrepancies will occur during the questioning process... few people ever recall an event or person in the exact same way.

When someone spiritual is listening to another person in this light... they will also have ingrained beliefs from a lifetime of indoctrination.

This does not negate the truth of the event.

You are right there are some differences between the gospels. However, most of what they write about is undeniably the same. Why the differences? - you read six different newspapers about something that happened yesterday and none of them will be the same.

Lets say : Me, you and a guy named Jack all know Mr. Hall, the store manager of our super market. We've all attended
social gatherings together and even had dinner together a couple of times. Now because you, Jack and myself have different personalities and different perspectives on life, if asked to describe Mr.Hall or give an account of what was said or done at our last dinner date, we would all say it differently. Yet none of us would be 'wrong'.

These gospels were written years after Jesus died by unknown writers who were transcribing oral tradition stories that had been passed down through many story tellers.

Have you ever tried the children's game where several people whisper something to the person next to them. By the time it gets back to the one who originally told it it is often unrecognizable.

love and blessings Don

Each of the Apostles was unique and so viewed Jesus in their own way as we do with each other, the Gospel writers showed various facets of Christ that appealed to them as individuals and so we see how their descriptions of Christ`s life and ministry are given through their own perspectives and yet retain authority and truth.

why do you say that? I have been reading the bible for 40 years and see no difference...each writer chose to present different aspects of the ministry and life of Jesus but he is the same person in each account.
