Eklavya was elevated from devotee to status of a saint. I have been told that his name is written in gold and he is an example, withstanding the test of time, of how a devotee should act in paying his due for the teachings he received, without a thought about himself.
In one way then, it can be said that his guru elevated his student to that of a saint by asking for this payment, thereby allowing the whole MahaBhartha to unfold according to the divine plan and Arjuna to be victorious. Only God knows what chaos may have ensued had Eklavya not been asked to pay his due and beaten Arjuna. It was the teachers' responsibility to ensure Arjuna be the best; he took that vow.

We see today that everyone bearing arms causes extraordinary crime in the western society! People use this to justify a small populace carring arms but they fail to see the differences it causes among communities, In the old hindu era only kshatriya were allowed to carry weapons! A person other than kshatriya carrying weapons was considered a challenge! If eklavya is wrong to fight for his survival all human kind is wrong to do the same! learn like Eklavya but donot surrender your thumb to the wickedness of a few people! One cannot accept peace at the expense of slavery! We should all be kshatriyas fighting foreign evil!

For a Disciple, Guru is superior than anyone and Drona being the guru asked for Gurudakshina from EKALYVA. Ekalyva cut his thumb and gave to Drona as Gurudhakshina without having second thought, without caring Drona's motive. This way Ekalyva became great and fulfilled Guru's wish unconditionally-

Guru- disciple relationship totally went wrong . Ekalaiva proved that he is sincere & devoted to his MANASIHA Guru. Dronachariar was aware that Arjuna will lose to Ekalavya.
INSPIRATION;;;---Guru is Omnipresent & Guru-Disciple relationship is ETERNAL, like Krishna & Arjuna. Guru must be a TRUE Guru. Diksa, initiation is a must from Guru. It is his past karma, ekalavya went wrong.
