If gas prices keep rising (as they seem bound to do at this point), will you keep driving, no matter what?
Or will there come a point at which you simply stop driving?
What will that point be? $5? $10?

FYI, in most of Europe, gas is already the equivalent of $6-8 a gallon.
There are other solutions besides waiting for more efficient cars. What about more efficient communities? Communities where we can bike or walk because things are close together and dense?

The answer is never. Infact, as you mentioned in Europe people drive cars at $8 a gallon. At that point gas will become a commodity in high price and high demand which will bring the price even higher. What might happen is that people will start to save drastically on gas, so they will buy small cars or switch to scooters.
The biggest problem is that people dont use gas wisely. They make $400 a week and buy HUGE trucks to commute and spend $200 a week for gas. If the gas price hits $8...they will all sell their trucks and buy a small sedan cause they wont be able to pay for gas.

That's a really good question... I don't know. I'm a teenager, and I can barely afford gas as it is, but Hybrid cars are so expensive, it would take years of gas efficiency to save the money you would've spent in other cars. I think we should wait until something better than a hybrid comes out, because I know they can do it... we have some crazy technology these days. Where's the hydrogen cars?

If it went to $8 a gallon i might could desire to park the Tahoe for optimistic because of the fact the gas expenditures are putting a damper on Christmas this year and those gas expenditures will reason a melancholy because of the fact the save going up as people merely won't have funds for something purely the prosperous would be waiting to arise with the money for to force. I see many agencies approximately to pass decrease than and it particularly is merely the initiating. i think of quickly bicycles will rule the line. at this fee of gas expenditures going up $8 a gallon will ensue, yet there'll be fewer fat people.

Here where I live in middle america, I think for the majority of the underpaid, minimun wage workers, 5 bucks a gallon would shut them down. we hover around 3 dollars now. In my own situation I would be second guessing going to work paying 5 bucks a gallon. But we always have to remember that we need the gas to survive. If it gets really expensive, above 5, I would be willing to bet the economy would suffer here in the USA

I wonder how long we'd have to stop driving for before they would implement realistic public transit and eco-fuel burning cars. No working, no shopping, no spending no economy. I bet it wouldn't take long.

i work as a courier, my company adjusts my pay to change with gas prices, so it depends on how long people are willing to pay for a premium delivery service.
