Why do you people in [insert your country] have a problem with guns?

I feel a lot safer at night alone with a gun. If a person breaks into my house with a weapon, I stand a better chance at protecting myself as a woman with a gun. I guess we crazy Americans just believe in self-defense. I guess we also believe that the government shouldn't have the monopoly on all the weapons.

it's history!!! when we shook the chains of tyranny and declared our independence it was our personal weapons that helped us remain free. During the civil(that wasn't very) war it was personal weapons that soldiers of both the north and the south brandished to fight not for slavery or any other bull crap but for the ideas they thought were right. It is simply a tool that makes all men equal. If two men without guns need to settle differences they either use their fists or sticks or knives giving the fastest or the strongest or the most experienced fighter an edge. Guns just bring everyone to the same field to play. I carry because if you run into someone on drugs or a rabid animal or even a poisonous snake you can make a dangerous situation a lot less dangerous. I live on a farm and I carry a handgun constantly. I have all of my mandated permits and training and such.

I like my guns for essentially the same reason I like having a large selection of wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and such. Certain tasks require certain tools and the task of self-defense can be done far more effectively with pistol in hand than without.

No, guns don't cause anything at all. They're inanimate objects. People cause harm. You have them over there too, don't you?

Almost every family and individual in the area I live owns at least several guns. The last gun crime I remember was about 15 years ago and he was on drugs ( drug issue not a gun issue ). There have been a few accidents over the years but since hunter and gun safety courses they have gone way down. I like to hunt, They are a part of my families history in settling this area. My grandmother taught school over 100 years ago and carried a gun to school and the immigrant children new to the area used to walk with her through the woods to and from school Although they were never attacked, wild animals used to follow them, ( probably smelled their lunches ), but still reason for concern.

Why do people like you always place the blame on an inanimate object which is neither good nor bad? Why don't you blame the ones who misuse the guns? One last question for you, how do you plan to protect yourself from someone intending to kill you or your family, or for that matter from government tyranny, if that should happen?

Hey

I would not expect anyone from another country which Bans Guns to Understand the True Meaning of Gun Ownership

When you own a Firearm, you are part of a balance of power, and are more respected by the government. In Essence you go from being a Subject to a Citizen.

When you own a firearm, you can protect yourself and your family, and it shows a sign of responsibility.

We in America Pride ourselves on our Gun Ownership.
You dont see our Citizens Starving, or our people being wiped out by our Government by acts of Genocide.

When our Government gets out of line and tries to exert its power wrongfully, you usually see a big shoot out occur
such as was in Ruby Ridge or Waco. Television, Media
and other News organizations come in and investigate, and the truth is revealed.

There are 300 Million people in the USA and about 150 Million Arms in Circulation. Id like to See any Country invade
a country with 150 Million armed, Pissed off Citizens

It is not the gun to fear, the people who have them are the ones who you can fear. When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns.

No-guns prevent other people from harming me and my family. Criminals will have guns regardless.

you are correct but your missing the point, and really its the nuts behind the gun that kills people not the gun or object itself
but to answer your question it is a right to own one that is what the US Constitution was set up to let citizens own gun to prevent a corrupt government from having the upper hand and our right to own one doesn't change if people get shot by other people example there are gun killings in the UK all the time and it doesn't allow people to own guns black markets sell gun in every country even the ones that guns are banned but at least i know that i can have a gun to protect myself if i need too

Besides the obvious thing, protection, many people like to hunt, skeet shoot, target practice, protect their land from animals, etc., some just collect guns. Some just have them because they know they can.

Look at who we elected for president! That should explain the caveman-like instinct of having to possess some form of protection, be it a stick or a gun. If the country is so unsafe that we should all have guns, then for God's sake, get me out . . .

The country is more screwed up than it seems via the Internet or media or anything else. Vacationing here is nice and there is no place like it in the world, but the government is out of hand and the current ways of society are just downright embarrassing. I can't wait until I get to be of college age when I can go off to Oxford and play on ladies Arsenal.

Guns do cause more harm than good. Because so many people have guns in the US for unexplained and invalid reasons, our crime rate here is - I assume - one of the highest in the world.

The US has been great to me and I don't take advantage of my rights at all, but maybe I just need to move to a place like Los Angeles where freedom REALLY reigns. Until then, being stuck in the South is about as bad as it can get for a liberal, open-minded person.

Realize that we aren't all obsessed with violence! ;-)
