I think it's a good book. Habakkuk somewhat openly questions God's seeming tolerance of violence, but eventually persists in thinking that justice will be done and good wil triumph over evil. The faithful must remain faithful and try not to fall into the temptation of impatience.

Prophecy seems to be always open. If we follow one course, good will happen. The other course will yield bad results. Usually there are more fulfillments then one also, being partly fulfilled at one time and later fulfillments tend to be more symbolic. We can only try to change course and hope that the Chaldeans are wrong attitudes and ideas that will be destroyed by common sense and reason rather than people. I see a promise of enlightenment for the world in there also. It seems to me that the information age has led into the conceptual age where history has finally taught millions a lesson. Stay tuned.

I agree with the interpretation of the book: It would be pessimistic not to do so...
Thus, I believe that good people ultimately triumph, and wicked people are ultimately punished.
