1. Panna is a very common gemstone-you need to find the English translation.
2. Ratti is a unit of weight. In ancient times they used this seed (Ratti) for precision weighing like that of Gold.
10 Rattis =1 Tola (Approx.10 gms). Ratti trees are still found in India. It is a beautiful small oval shaped seed. Has a shining black top and dark red body.Seems as if somebody has painted them artificially in this fashion. One more fact that I know about Rattis is that keeping them in your possession can drag you into a quarrel or fight. At a younger age, a couple of times I acquired Rattis from the Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi while on school picnics and both the times I had a quarrel later during the day. Sounds supertitious but I have believed it ever since.
