My cat has an appointment Tuesday morning. Anyways, we are getting him checked from FLUTD. I've gotten opinions, and a lot of people said it's probably FLUTD. Anyways, I want more, hehe. His symptoms:

-straining to urinate
-small urination (one witnessed occurance)
-Dihareah
-Licking of his genitals

He's a neutered 4 yr. old male. I have a pic and video of his diaharea. E-mail me if you wanna see. And he doesn't have a blockage, because he can pee. But is it bacterial, or what?

Okay, it's 6:30am, Sunday morning. I just checked on him, his pupils were big and it looked like his respiration rate was higher than normal. There's a glob of urine in the kitty, box, but there's also my mommom's cat, so I don't know who made that pee. As far as I've see, all the pees have been regular amount, except the one on July 4th. I'm showing my parents as soon as they wake up all this info.

Well,it can be bacterial, but it's usually caused by struvite crystals in the urinary tract,and/or bladder spasms. The cat has problems urinating because the crystals hurt when he tries to pass them, and so this leads to spasms, which makes the problem worse.I've had several cats with it,and have two now, both neutered males. One of them has had to be sedated and catheterized to be unblocked, and he takes Valium for bladder spasms, and the other one just had to take antibiotics. All of my cats (12,count 'em!) eat a diet formulated for urinary tract health.I also had a cat years ago,who I rescued from my neighbor. The cat was in her bathroom, bleeding from his penis, and his bladder was as big as a softball. She didn't want to spend any money on the cat,so I took him,and he ultimately had to have surgery to re-route his urinary tract and make the opening bigger,so he wouldn't block again. He lived for 9 more years, before dying at the age of 17 of kidney failure. So,bacteria can contribute, but it's mostly caused by crystals,or small stones.Ask your vet about a diet change, and maybe trying Valium ( my cat takes 1mg. twice a day when he has spasms)If he blocks, though, you know it is imperative that you get him to a vet asap,or he could die.Surgery is the only answer in some cases.Good luck with your cat.

Yes. Your kitty has urinary track issues based on the symptoms you have posted. I had a cat that had FLUTD who is now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. He displayed ALL the symptoms of your cat including licking his genitalia. I wish I knew then what I do know about it now (Pezza was carried by the angels in 1994). I strongly urge you to:
1. Take your cat to the vet NOW or as soon as possible. He may not be able to wait until Teusday. urinary track bockages caused by struvite crystals is life threatening. You can take him to an emergency vet at the first sign that he is again straining to pee.

2. Change his diet. This si one of the Best ways you can hep prevent this from happening again. Get kitty off the kibble and to wet cat food - go raw preferably. If you can't then truly, dry food will only aggravate the problem. Read up on cat nutrition. You'll most like ly need afood that will make your kitty's urine slightly more acidic (to dissolve the struvite crystals). An example is a cat food with cranberry in it. But then, you can get a cat urinary track health supplement from Petc- or PetSmart. I've seen them there.

Did you tell your vet exactly what was wrong when you made the appt.? They would have had you in the same day. It's very important you get it taken care of quickly. It's VERY SERIOUS!!! It can damage the cats kidneys. Same thing happened to my kitty. It was a small blockage and we caught it in time.We took him in immediately. If it gets completely blocked the vet goes in and has to flush out the blockage with a catheter. Its not pleasant for kitty!!!

more than likely he has an infection and he cant wait until tuesday you will have to take him in to an emergency vet or hospital...please dont wait every time he strains to pee then a little pee escapes is not good because the bad pee is building up inside of him and it is infected which is not good at all it could spread throughout his body and he will die ....please take him NOW

i have been told my cat has a urinary tract problem that has been held off to long and has become a kidney problem. She has not had sort of symphtoms as yours. Mine peed outside the litterbox at first and now is drinking a large amount of water and starting to throw it up. try this website, they can probably help, they did with me
