Hinduism says the cosomos is an illusion created by god, and we are stuck up in this Maya... What abt YA?
People take birth here and create an ID and attach an ego with it...give it a face.
People make friends and foes for points, which are of no use outside YA ...like we earn money in world..which is not used anywhere
People get inflated ego for points and levels and badges...which are actually real illusion and have no value anywhere.
We fall in love with fake IDs, we make enemies in fake IDs....and dont know who the real person is behind them
The insult of our Temporary ID by another temporary ID... is taken seriously by us... and we attach that grief with our own real self..
Do you have some more such ideas ?

The concept of Maya differs from what I believe as a Christian but I must say that your illustration is an outstanding one. The Y/A world is very analogous to the Hindu teaching of Maya. I will certainly remember it for times when someone asks for an explanation of how Hindus can believe in Maya and yet act as though the world were not an illusion.

The YA is not a real mini model of the world of maya. Main point where it differ from that lies in the principles of karma and laws of rebirth that dose not apply here. Other similarities that are been pointed out is due to the fact that this small thing is after all created by and participated by creatures those who are really deluded by maya. If not, why will they be here.

Yes certainly so,but essentially if YA allows individuals to attain his/her goal it serves a purpose,Now we come to the crux, what is the goal to be set?I see a lot of queries in YA of which answer will be known only to a few but YA brings all these id's along to provide what they know.U may believe in Maya or not,but YA makes real life livable by these virtual world.

Your speculation is correct to some extent. What is maya?
YA what we see as existing is MA not at all comstant or eternal. We see many things use for our development but we are not fully aware that we ourselves as well as the things we see, use, touch, experience are undergoing change every moment. One doesn't remain as he is at later moment hence what ever ejoyed, experienced, seen touched and all particular has become past in next moment. Hence this world is called maya or illusion. All the universe is created by real one and is a part and parcel of that Real One hence everything is real at particular moment. As it is changing in a high speed beyond our conception and speculations, we stick to first sight that impressed our mind and after long time also we want to see that thing, incidence, and so on in that form. To see any changed thing in its earlier form which we seen in the past is illusion. Hence this everchanging world is said illusion. This illusion is for our elevation to the Godly platform. When we are gifted this media, we should utilise it sportively to increase our knowledge and broaden our minds. Thanks to the media and moderators of the sight and also moderators of particular groups to let us use this facility.

I think the universe might be a maya or maybe not. I rather believe that our life in the world is a phase and after death its another state beacue Lord Krishna said the soul cant be create and destruct .And Swami vivekanand said Sould change its state.

thanks aum. this example is a true replica indeed.
this also proves the basic derivatery principle of the Veda's that the higher system, always replicated its process in its subsystems, and subsystems derive from the dwelling system.
It is this truth which at the same time, makes us also share the properties of the divine, along with the illusion offcourse.
But like all other creation, we share the properties of the immediate system ( maya ) more than the real mother system ( eternal world : divine) in our current form.

However!
I think Y!A goes deeper than that. Or, we can go deeper than that on Y!A.
It seems to me that, using avatars and IDs we can, through that Field in which we all exist, make a genuine contact.
I think people genuinely can - and do - fall in love here.
I make what seems like a deeper 'contact' with some askers and answerers.
So - yes, I agree. But, like the universe itself, it's all about levels.

If that is the view, well be it so.
Then, we are at "illuminating" this illusion's image, shadow, so that, (in such a way that, ) it would motivate us to become aware of also the temporal nature of our 'real-life' IDs, and then, play it fully, consciously...... this time, unmindful of the consequences too !

i agree that yahoo plateform is same as you are in touch with some people with the difference that here body is not present,but here mind , intellect , ego and soul is present.
