London might as well be called British New York, because in proportion, it has everything the Big Apple has. The main difference is that NYC has about twice the population, and London has less of the population density. There is where you get the quietness, though central London is very vibrant indeed.

Another difference I find is that in New York, most of the main attractions are found upon Manhattan Island, with very few draw cards found in the outer boroughs (Yankee Stadium, Prospect Park etc being exceptions). It's what I sometimes call a 'jam doughnut city' (ie: all the best bits in the centre). In London though, you do get 'pockets' of culture and interest right the way into the suburbs.
