Im going towards the end of this summer, 2 adults and an 8 yr old, from oregon to anaheim for 4 nights, we'll want to rent a car to drive there, not fly, do you have any tips on the cheapest way yo go about planning my vacation? without staying at some crappy motel either...

One tip is to bring your own picnic lunches. The food there is ridiculously expensive.

It would be WAY cheaper to fly there, rent the car there and drop the car off and fly fly home, than to drive all the way there. Gas would be expensive.
Do you really want to take the VACATION TIME and effort to drive 18 hours EACH WAY? You'd need a week to recover from the drive alone!
When you get there, bring your own food.
Disney food is outrageously expensive and no better than dried up cafeteria food.
