Stretch before bed and in the morning
the same thing used to happen to me
its a tensing of the muscles because they haven't been stretched properly and the movements you make at night stress the ligaments. They hurt so bad ,I know!

Charlie Horses could be brought about via having low potassium. Low potassium could be brought about via depleting your electrolytes. in case you artwork out particularly no longer undemanding and don't hydrate suited and replenish with supplementations. Coconut Water, Propel water, and Gatorade or Powerade are some issues which you would be able to save handy in case you get Charlie Horses in many circumstances. I want cocnut water. i'm on a strict weight loss application suited now it particularly is proscribed to purely lean protein and constrained greens. My charlie horses have come again and that i'm particular that's because of the fact i'm no longer getting adequate potassium and dealing out it depleating my electrolytes so i drink coconut water while i'm initiating to sense susceptible. It helps lots.

This happens do to a lack of potassium. Usually eating bananas or taking a vitamin supplement will help reduce the “charlie horses.” Besides bananas dried apricots contain a large amount of potassium (dried apricots actually contain more potassium then bananas)

Firstly, I hate that! Second, check the area for redness, warmth or swelling- any of those you need to go to your doc immediately, it may be a blood clot.

So, no redness, warmth or swelling. Perhaps your KCL (Potassium Chloride) is down. Go to your doc to get an order for a draw Eat a couple nanners...although they really don't have that much KCL in them.

Bottom line is go to your doc. He can do a venous doppler study to make sure you have no clots, do the labs and see your leg.

I wouldn't do any rubbing or stretching of the leg before you see the doc because IF you have a clot there, it could cause it to move....which is what we DO NOT want.

well there are a lot of reasons for charlie horses when asleep...there are electrolytes you lack like sodium and potassium that could be causing....you overused those particular muscles and thus are way too tired during evenings ..like if you are on your feet alot...you can also not be drinking enough water...also stretches help.

there are other diseases that could cause cramping.....restless legs syndrome....bad posture thus leading to muscle fatigue..suggest you go research on it further and see what else you can do...

Not having enough potassium could do it but so can sometimes the way we stretch. The only way to know for sure what is going on is to see your doctor to have them evaluate the situation further to see what they think is going on.

Low potassium can be the cause. Have your potassium levels checked (simple blood test), Eat foods high in potassium...like bananas

That happens to me too, until I started drinking gatorade. The potassium in Gatorade has stopped them for me.
Personally, I think it is low potassium.
