I am straight. Suppose my parents want me to be gay. I have two choices. I can either (1) obey them and be gay or (2) disobey them and not be gay.

If I go with the first option and be gay, I am going against God because I am gay.

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

However, if I go with option two, disobey my parents, and be straight, then I also go against God because I disobey my parents.

Exodus 20:12, "Honour thy father and thy mother."

Ephesians 6:1-3, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother."

So in this situation, no matter what, it seems as if I am a sinner. What do I do?

You disobey your parents. In an evil cursed world you sometimes come to situations where you have to choose the worst of 2 evils. In those situations, you obey God and do what the bible says is right. Homosexuality(according to the bible) is morally wrong. When someone tells you to do wrong, you obey God rather than man. In passages like Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:1-3, it is understood that you are to obey your parents when they are telling you do to something that the bible says is right. That's implied. It's understood. Those verses have a GENERAL principal, namely, that you are to obey your parents and honour your parents. But not when your parents tell you to take a 357 magnum and blow away the new born baby next door.

Okay, well, you can't be gay if your not gay. It sounds like you maybe wrestling with some internal turmoils. You should speak with someone from an organization. Do a google search. Also, there are plenty of Gay people that are more Christian than you or I.

If I am wrong regarding your internal turmoil then I apologize.

But lets go on with this hypothetical. You should not obey someone or adhere to any rule that is against God. Your parents asking you to be gay is going against the word of God. In this sense your parents are the tempting you into something that is contradictory to the word of God.

You are likely a troll, but I will answer your question as if you were serious.

I find it unusual that your parents would want you to be gay, unless they themselves are a gay couple and you are adopted... In which case I believe you could get through a loophole in the second scripture since it doesn't say anything about honoring both of your fathers, etc...

Personally I believe your choice of sexuality should rely solely on you. The same goes for your relationship with God. I feel that a lot of things in the bible have been misinterpreted by the people who have translated and re-written it over time.

God is within you; to follow your heart is to follow God.

at the start, even the angels in heaven have a unfastened selection, as an occasion Lucifer and the only 0.33 that accompanied him. Adam and Eve have been created with the liberty to chosen. maximum mothers and fathers do their perfect to instill a solid commencing place of their young ones. while they advance up all we are in a position to do is pray for them and desire they make the properly suited options. Secondly even with what you plenty study or hear a "gay Gene" has on no account been chanced on, it incredibly is an component of the professional gay propaganda flooding the media. Why oh why won't be in a position to our society see that gays love youthful finding bodies? the only time in the gay community that somebody youthful connects with somebody elderly is by using $$$. observe each and all of the plastic surgical treatment in that lifestyle. mothers and fathers are no longer against their newborn, they're against the habit. Christian mothers and fathers experience a similar some newborn it incredibly is on drugs or abuses alcohol. The gay community is amazingly sensible how actuality it incredibly is that they who discriminate against heterosexuals, except they consider their habit. they're very stable at taking part in the sufferer, which they are no longer any greater a sufferer than a drug addict who intentionally makes use of medicine for interest.. they're doing a stable job of convincing out little infants that gay is advantageous. as an occasion I see your question as planting a sprint seed of poison. Dear Arkayz_Bible,

While the Bible does both teach that children ought to obey their parents and that homosexuality is sin, the Bible makes it clear that the parents have a responsibility to raise children in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.

I couldn't even possibly understand why a parent would command their child to be gay. In issues where God's will is clear- we must obey God and not man.

In the book of Acts Peter was preaching the gospel and the Pharisess came and threatened him and commanded him to stop preaching. Peter's response was should i obey God or man? Although we are told to obey authority. The idea is that God has placed certain authorities in our life- to help direct and lead us- but God himself is the ultimate authority as to what is best for our lives- since He has plans for our lives. In situations where we are commanded to do something that is contrary to God, we are to obey God.

In the Passages you quoted: There are also instructions to the parents as to how they should parent.

I guess it's like if your boss tells you to kill someone or do something illegal -- do you obey your "earthly boss", or do you obey your "Heavenly Father".

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

The Hebrew word for honor is probably better translated as respect your parents. That doesn't mean obedience without question. If your parents are commanding you to sin, God would not expect you to follow their commands. Just like when Paul says that Christians should always obey their governments unless the government is forcing them to do something sinful.

I feel that you should stay straight and disobey your parents. Back when the bible was made, honorig your father and mother was easy, because they were the wisdon figures and the such, however with the corruption in the world between money, alcohol, and drugs, it's almost turned into a "every man for themself" kind of deal. If your parents told you to kill someone out of a drunken rage, would you?

In the military, persons of lesser ranks are obligated to follow all lawful orders. UNLAWFUL and IMMORAL orders do not count. Do you SINCERELY believe that God is ordering you to obey your parents, NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO DO?

You're example is utterly ridiculous! But say that they want you to prostitute yourself or rob a liquor store for them. C'mon! You REALLY think that God has boxed you into such a corner. Obeying Him is ALWAYS of the utmost importance. Obeying your parents ranks WAY down from God's law. Any time the two conflict, go with God.

You cannot just BE gay.. you can't just TURN gay. And ya know, God would love you regardless if you were gay, straight, or purple. Now.. if your parents wanted you to be gay.. they need some mental help. You are not a sinner because of your sexual preference. And I'm sure God could overlook you saying no to your parents if they told you to be gay.

"Honoring" ones parents is different from obeying them blindly. In fact, historically more importance was placed in a grown-up child honoring his aged parents, than in a child obey. This was motivated by the fact that in an agricultural society, it was common to abandon the elderly, who were unable to work and contribute to the economy.

The actual greek word in Ephesians is pronounced "hoop-a-koo"and means "heed" or "listen to." Again, it refers to respecting and at least listening to a parent's advice. But it doesn't advocate complete and blind obediance.
