I'm trying to lower my LDL cholesterol. Thus, I snack on roast nuts. Nuts, especially walnuts, are excellent for lowering LDL cholesterol levels. They are excellent sources of betasitosteroyls (especially pistachio nuts raw or roasted, with or without salt) that lower cholesterol.
I live in Texas, and hull out lots of pecans and store them in the freezer. I just ate a saucer full of pecans roasted for about a minute and a quarter (stop the microwave and stir them around). I use just a little olive oil (say six or so drops) so I can get a little salt to adhere to the pecans. Watch that saucer---it gets hot!
I ate those about an hour ago.
