I accept what the Bible says and I believe that even though you can be a good person without being a Christian, if you do not accept Jesus as your savior you will go to Hell forever when you die.

This hits home with me especially since my brother is an atheist. He has been one for over ten years. Every SINGLE time I try to bring up religion he shuts off and doesn't listen. I don't know what else to do. He says there is no way he could ever come back to Christianity without any significant scientific evidence.

I am worried about him. He is a good person. He does volunteer work and he is a good father. There is about a ten year difference between our ages and he helped me out when our parents got a divorce. I don't want him to go to Hell. What would happen if he got in a car wreck and died tomorrow?

Has anyone else gone through this?

If you except the bible how can you believe a god of love would send someone to hell to be tormented for ever
You do know the bible states that the wages of sin is death so when you die you have paid the price ...why should you go on paying for ever ?
The bible states the dead are conscience of nothing so what would be the point of being tormented if you won't know about it ?? read Ecclesiastes 9:5 and Psalms 146:3&4
As for your brother god gave us freedom of choise. I am sure you love your brother but the tighter you try to hold something the more likely it will slip through your hands.
Love him uncondishionly and maybe later on he will change his mind.(the worst thing you can do is try to shove it down his throat...he will end up resenting you )
As for him dieing tomorrow don't forget the resurrection...Thats in the bible too

Dr. Zakir Naik? lol. In a video making those previous long debunked first reason arguments that Christians have used too for hundreds of years. If I even have been going to undertake some form of theism, which i'm not, Islam would desire to be approximately on the backside of the record of accessible applicants.

There's nothing wrong with your brother. Let him be. He shuts you out because he thinks you're forcing your religion on him. I know, him and I share the same sentiments. Continue being a good brother, but leave religion out of it. All it will do is cause more problems between the two of you. Just know that he's a good amn and both of you are free to believe what you want to believe. I know, I've been down that road. It's better left untread.

lets reverse the role what if you died in a car crash and found out that there isn't a heaven or hell? would you be mad that you where lied to for so long? or even better how would you feel every time that you saw someone they tried to push their believes on you like they are better then you? would you get mad about it or start shutting out that person?
how do you think he feels he helped you out and now for that bit of thanks (and by the way did you thank him) you are trying to convert him. were is the logic in this? there isn't any be happy that you have a brother like him and let him live his own life. AND OPEN YOUR EYES, OR YOU WILL LOSE A BROTHER!!!!

I'll bet when he tries to express his opinion you shut him out too.

"He says there is no way he could ever come back to Christianity without any significant scientific evidence"

So give him some then. If you're actually religious, do you not see how evil it is for your god to condemn someone like your brother?

here's a thought: read The God Delusion, understand what religion is and how it works, and be done with it forever. Or at least read Letter to a Christian Nation and be able to discuss atheism intelligently. email or IM me if you don't have a copy handy.

Let me tell you something,

Imagine a deep believer and how hard its to change his faith, now multiply that by 100, that's what you need to turn him away from logic and science especially if he is a good man with morals.

Just live your life for Christ. Let it be an example for him. Continue to offer up prayers for him. We know the power of prayer. All you can do is turn it over to the Lord. A hardened heart will not hear your words but the eyes will always view and judge your actions. You don't have any scientific evidence to give so all you can give is love. And love is greater.
Yours in Christ,
Miss Mona

Not quite in that fashion. Probably more in tune with your brother's views.

Do not worry. Your faith, concern and love for your brother will take care of him in the event you are right.

If he is right, then there is nothing to worry, is it not?
