I dated my husband for 5 years before tying the knot. We've been married for 5 and half years now. But I don't really think there's an answer to that question. But I'd probably date at least a year before marrying.

there is no right answer. it all is a gamble.
However, if you have been friends and have dated a while it helps.
usually 1-2 years of dating is good.
sometimes longer is better.
also, how old are you? 18, dated for two years in highschool?
not a very good move.
the better question should be how old should you be before you marry.
24-27 would be a good year to marry. usually you both are more mature and know more or less what life holds in store for you.

It depends. I think if you older (i.e. in your later 30s) it is more acceptable to get married faster because you tend to know yourself more and what you require of a partner. Two years is acceptable for that age.
However, no one should be getting married before the age of 25 because you don't even know yourself yet and you'll be doing a ton of changing until this age...around this age, you have a better knowledge of yourself, which is important in a good relationship.

Long enough to get to know each other. You need to know whether you are compatible in values, interests, and personalities. That takes time. You need to spend time together doing a variety of activities in addition to typical dating activities. Making dinner, shopping, planning a party for friends, doing the laundry, doing yardwork, deciding what TV show or movie to watch, etc!
I'd say that usually means a year or more.

I think as soon as you figure out what kind of career in life you and your boyfriend need to survive and achieve it or at least have a idea how to achieve it. Then that is when you decide if you too can make it together married and till death do you part.

someplace between a million-3 years. you do not wanna bounce into marriage and discover out some months or perhaps a year later, your gonna break up. And it relies upon climate he needs to marry you too? (= terrific of success!

don't marry someone when you are not ready. If you have that thought in the back of your head he might not be the guy really want to be with don't push it

My parents dated for about an year.

it depends how much you like this guy you have to know if you can live with him and if you could cope
i know people who take 2 weeks then there is people that take 4 years
it just depend how much you love him
