If your mom has insurance on her car you should be covered , however you may have to be listed as an occasional driver just to be sure. All you have to do is have your mom make a call to your insurance agent, they will tell her.

If you have a permit only the owner of the car needs insurance. An adult has to be with you at all times when you only have a permit so you do not need your own insurance.

You should be covered if your mother has insurance on the vehicle. But her agent has to be aware that you are a part time operator in this vehicle or there may be a problem with coverage if something does happen. Your mom should be able to find out from her agent.

Ask your mom if her insurance specifically includes you ... if she not know, then ask her insurance agent.

All vehicle owners need to have insurance.
* suppose someone crashes into it when it is parked

All drivers need to have insurance.
* suppose there's an accident & they think it is your fault

It might not hurt if some passengers & pedestrians had insurance.
* like protection from hit & run for example

It is pretty expensive, so get an education in the different kinds, what they do and do not cover.
* liability
* medical
* personal
* property
* collision
* comprehensive
* uninsured
* deductables

the insurance is on the car, not the person. You cant be excluded from the car. If your parents dont pay the extra to keep you not excluded, then you cant drive. (Michigan)
