For most drugs that are not expired they have a 4 year shelf life in unopened containers.. aka straight out of the pharmacy stock.. however pharmacies normally put a 6 month expiration date on bottles...
Expired medication could mean that chemicals could be breaking down which means it might not work at all. The strength of the pill might be slightly less than a fresh bottle.
It may work but might not last as long.. if you want the full effect consult a doc for a new prescription.
