the word aner for "men" is never used of women, because women can never be husbands. So when the Bible refers to 'mankind' is it really refering to women too?
The period of
‘uncleaness’ after childbirth is forty days for having a male child but eighty days for a female child.
What does this mean?
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with
womankind".

The Bible does not discriminate but cultures did and do. God speaks to people to where they are, not where He wants them to be. But there are plenty of passages that exalt women and that correct male-biases toward women.
Example: Ephesians 5:25--husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her. Meaning: Husbands your wife's life is more important than yours; if there's only one piece of bread left in the house, its hers; if someone has to die, husbands, its you!
Example: Acts 5:14--crowds of people were added to the church, both men and women. Luke goes out of his way to make sure we know that women were part of what was happening in the Jerusalem church. Why? To correct biases and to give the women their dues.
Example: Genesis 1:27--So God created mankind in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. What?! Women bear the image of God?! Just because ancient Israel refused to see it doesn't mean its not there.
Example: Genesis 3:15--I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He (the woman's seed) will strike your head, and you will strike His heel. What?! The woman's seed will do this, not the man's? Crushing Satan's power will result from a woman's child, not a man's?

The period of uncleanliness is longer after a female child.
Yes, the bible is ripe with sexual inequality. Women are not to speak in church or give religious instruction. Menstruation is considered an unclean act. Adultery is a woman having sex outside of a marriage, no such rule applies to men. The list is really too long for here, but check this out:

maximum monotheistic religions are that way. look on the koran and how it perspectives women human beings. while they shrink out the GODDESSES first giving them a lesser place in faith then kicked them out all mutually, the rights of ladies human beings accompanied greater wholesome. Sorry, I have not any tolerance for MALE dominance of any sort that includes contained in the artwork place, contained in the domicile, and in faith. Love the actuality that pointing out what's shown in books, history and archeology gets thumbed down. My opinion no longer withstanding, i've got confidence that we've been created to be equals and no volume of telling me that it exchange into positioned that way because of the fact men love women human beings is going to alter my concepts. i will do as stable a job as any guy IF men might provide me the prospect. A gilded cage remains a cage and discrimination of ladies human beings, no be counted how "properly meant" is incorrect.

Absolutely. But the true question is "Did the people who wrote the Bible discriminate against women?" Of course, the Bible is considered Holy-but consider your sources: most of the translators were medevil men who referred to women as 'wenches'...so although the Bible has many great stories that help out with life, I prefer to think of it more as poetry than words to live by.

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with
womankind" means that as a male you must not sleep as in have sex with men as with women. Is a strong argument that the Catholic church uses against relationships.
About the Bible being against women, well it was written in a male era so that wasn´t that helpfull. But I´m pretty sure there are arguments in the Bible that defend women against ill treatment.

The men used to be the lead and thought of superior. That has changed. It's just how it used to be.
Along with this the bible is the history of Christianity not only what God likes and believes in.
Along with this women have also been praised like Mary. I really don't think people hated her.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach [didaskein], nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (1 Timothy 2:11-12)

The old testament of the bible is that of the religion of the Jewish peoples, and "yes" it does discriminate for their religion is MALE dominated.
So is Christianity, and the religion of Islam and so are many others throughout the world. It is the FLAW within these religions that tell the WISE of the world their "falsehood........"

The Bible is the most gender-biased and sexist book in use today. Sadly many young women read it and believe they are inferior to, and must be subservient to men, because "it's in the Bible"!!! This book is more harmful to women than Hustler and Playboy combined.
