it seems that somehow its okay to sacrifice an animal(which by the way does have feelings) and to be in religious wars for the sake of god. but both involve killing so what exactly is it that though shall not kill?

there are obviously some exceptions because otherwise the animal sacrifices and religious wars are a sin. so which one is it?

thou shall not murder.
that's to kill another human with evil intent.(greed, lust, ect.)
self defence is just fine.
and animals are tasty, it would be mean to let them live while eating them.

We have always been allowed to kill in self defense, which means defendind the country.Animals are not human. Most religious wars were started by irreligious people using their "God's" name for a reason to attack.God always said to kill murderers, they polutte the land.
"Thou shalt do no murder "is the best way to think of it

Animals do have feelings to some extent, but they are not immortal spiritual beings. People are. We are not supposed to kill people in any way . . . murder is killing . . . there is no such thing as a Godly war, even tho' people have claimed to be killing in God's name. God gives life, and HE is the only one that has the right to take it again. Not us.

When King James comissioned the translation of the ancient texts available in the 1600s into an English language translation of the Bible, he did well with what he had.
Unfortunately, what he had was limited.
We now know that an accurate translation would say "You shall not MURDER".

Jesus established that the law pertains to the heart. What is the motive behind a kill? Is it hatred, anger, malice, envy, lust or is it love, justice, mercy, defense?

I also find this lack of clarity a tad discerning. If these are God's words, then should they not be left open for interpretation?
