I don't think that any Australians would really hate British or American accents but bare in mind they do hate the way SOME British people have this running commentary about why England is better and how everything is different and SOME Americans think that they have to YELL AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS during normal conversation so we can understand them.

Personally I love to hear different accents , when I hear an accent in a pub I usually say hello and try to make the person feel welcome in our quirky little country.

There are dozens of different accents in the UK and half a dozen major accents in the USA and Canada. I like some better than others but don't dislike any of them. The important thing is not to speak so broad an accent that you are unintelligible.

Sorry to generalise about people. But, from the people I have met - I do like the British accent. I am not too keen on the American accent, mainly because most American people I meet tend to talk VERY loudly.

Well I do like American accents if your from the south, I can put up with British as long as they're not talking crap about the world cup rugby, honestly you'd think they never won anything!

We don't "like" accents. We hear them a lot of the time and usually recognise them but basically, we don't care if you are from California or Ulster. Commenting on someone's accent would be regarded as poor manners by a lot of people here.

In general, we neither like them nor dislike them. We don't really care.
What we DON'T like is Americans tourists who come here and try to imitate our accent or try to talk like us. It is very annoying when we hear an American saying "Gidday" to everyone (with an American accent of course) the moment they stepped out of the plane.
