Well your on a religious question forum so your going to get a religious answer.

If my friend asked me to help him die I woulsd refuse him.

That would be murder and I am not going to go to Hell for anyone.

Plus, for him that would be suicide and since he is my friend I would not want him to go to Hell either.

Just because he has cancer that does NOT mean he should suicide! He has a time limit to live anyway because of cancer, right? Well let's assume he didn't get cancer, he is only human and will live only to about 100 years anyway! With or without diseases human life is already limited to about 100 years. He should cherish his life with his loved ones and friends.

Also, I have heard of some people that were cured by a "mericle" and now they cherish EVERY moment of their lives!

I am a compasionate, mercy oriented person when it comes to my friends and more of a justice and judgement person when it comes to myself.

I would hate to see my friend is pain and I can understand why someone would want to help them. I do not believe however that I could live with myself having helped someone die because I could never be 100% sure that that was the best thing and it would be a permanent thing.

That would be my reason for why not.

Thats a really hard one...

On one hand you have your friend that you obviously care for in a whole lot of pain, knowing he is probably going to die soon, asking you as his friend to help him end the suffering that he is being put through.

On the other hand you have the fact that you would be killing someone, even if he/she asked you to, with always that slight hope of recovery.

I guess it comes down to the individual circumstance... Personally I couldnt tell you as a general thing. Both options are extreme, and taking either would take a lot of soul-searching by the person asked to help.

I would not. What I WOULD do is help them get into a good hospice program so that their pain in dying could be properly managed. It is HARD to kill somebody -- not only morally, but logistically. Killing someone in a humane way is next to impossible without medical knowledge that I seriously lack.

Up here in Canada, at least, there is no reason for anyone to die in agony. We have a decent medical system that takes good care of its own.

Yes I would.

I've seen how cancer hurts, what it does as the person slowly dies from it and the great pain it causes, first hand. I even watched her die of it. If she had asked, we all would have helped her die. I think she knew that and felt comforted by it.

Depends on the friend and the illness. If I thought there was a chance for recover than no. If I thought there wasn't a chance for recover and I saw them suffering day in and day out than yes.

Sorry - you ruled out the only real answers. Your mumbo jumbo qualifies you as biased.

If this friend ask me to end his/her suffering then I feel they sholud be helped. I believe its no different than a pet you love. No living thing should have to suffer like that and if Jesus and God think they should in order for them to go to heaven than they are some cruel assholes.

Yes, I would help him or her die. If it was truly their last wish on Earth, and it didn't involve me hurting an animal or other human, I would help them die. If they are in pain and dying, and they trust me enough to help them, then they deserve one final wish to be granted.
