Let's split this question into three interpretations:

Are the majority of LDS doctrines true? Yes

Is the LDS Church the One True Church sanctioned by God today? No

Are the claims of the LDS Church historically true and verifiable? No

Just because the LDS Church isn't "True" in the same way as you may have been taught to believe it, that doesn't make it a "bad church." Regardless of whether the Book of Abraham was a funerary text or scripture, the Church teaches good principles that bring many of its followers to Christ and inspire them to live better lives.

When members say "I know the Church is true," they are usually referring to a burning in their bosom that they feel when following the Church or its precepts, or after reading the BoM and praying. They often mistake "This feels right for me" to mean "The Church and everything it claims are 100% true and accurate."

When you hear testimonies on Fast Sunday, you won't hear them say "I know all of the American Indians are direct descendents of Israel," or "I know the battle on Hill Cumorah really took place." You'll hear that vague "I know the Church is true" statement, which just assumes a fluidity for the actualy claims of the Church.

Some Mormons (the minority) do learn how to separate the two concepts. They understand that Joseph Smith's story (and the BoM, for that matter) can't be taken literally, but accept it as inspired fiction, a story Joseph Smith was inspired to create and live for the betterment of the people who would eventually follow him. Once you accept this, DNA proof won't shake your faith. Changes in doctrine and teachings won't shake your faith. The Church's tainted past won't make you want to leave it. You'll see all of that as evidence that the Church recognizes its errors and moves away from them, allowing greater benefits for its members.

Of course, all of that CAN prove problematic, which is why many members prefer to just assume that everything is historically accurate and verifiable, and that any evidence to the contrary must not be correctly understood. This is because once you admit that it could be "inspired fiction" or "mostly true," there is nothing that separates the LDS Church from another, so that if you feel the same burning in your bosom at another Church, then what is the point of staying in the LDS Church?

If you're willing to search out these options and find out what you really believe, then you'll be better for it.

God bless,
Will

A very subjective question calling for an absolute answer. To me yes. But my reasons wouldn't satisfy anyone else much less a skeptic. I received a personal revelation that more than satisfied me. No matter how tolerant or intolerant people are, they can't know the church is true by what I say or believe. They can never persuade me otherwise, because just like Joseph, I saw what I saw and I heard what I heard, and I can't deny it.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church I know of that encourages everyone to find out for themselves. They don't just try to persuade people with logic and reason. They actually encourage people to read their doctrine and pray about it. To ask God if it is true. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, God can manifest the truth to you directly. God loves us. He hasn't just left us to fend for ourselves. He has provided a way by which we can know his will and recognize his true gospel.

I know that the LDS church is true. I feel it. I love it. It makes me so happy and so free. If you want to know if the church is true, read the Book of Mormon, ponder it's teachings and pray to know if they are true. If you pray sincerely you will receive an answer.

Yes it is true. God has let me know that it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. All who read the Book of Mormon and pray to ask God if it is true will receive an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost. I would recommend reading every day and praying before, during and after you read. Sincerely seek for the truth and you will find it. Also remember that a lot of people on this site are uninformed and don't know much about the church.

Yes, the more I study the more I find evidence to support it. I have recently been interested in archaeological finds discovered not by Mormon researchers, but by Jewish professors. These finds have not been widely published yet. I have also been interested in visiting the city of Lamanai (catalogued by Spanish Catholic priests and later by Canadian archaeologists) in Belize, as it has the most obvious resemblance to Book of Mormon names, although it is in ruins. It may not be for years to come, but I know that many others have already visited it. But archaeology and "scientific proof" is not enough to support a testimony. It takes careful study and prayer, and it takes a willingness to rely on answers from God. It requires humility to say, "I really want to know where the authority of God is today." You can bet that you will run into Church members with mortal weaknesses and faults. But that will be just a test to see if you are willing to forgive others. Hope you have a good Sabbath day, and I send you a virtual gummy bear.

YES! Every word of it! This truth can be revealed to you personally through the power of the Holy Ghost as stated in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:3-7--

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the btruth of all things.
6 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.
7 And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.

If you mean by "true" that it's fully authorized by God, then yes.
