has she been pooping? did they X-ray? did they not at least give her a shot of an anti inflamatory for pain.
did they do a urinalysis? is there a yellow tint to her ears?
I would go back & insist on something - perhaps they've changed shifts since you were there? they should not charge you another exam fee. Call them

This is very surprising to me. Whenever I have had cats at the emergency facilities I have had a discharge conference with the vet there, suggestions for follow-up etc. and all the test results and findings were faxed to the regular vet to have the next day.
You might have to do this sort of "follow up" yourself. Sometimes my cats were just given pain meds or a steroid shot to help them through the following 12 hours.

My neighbours cat went through the same thing. Her cat lived to be 13 yrs old and had all the symptoms you mentioned and they got worse as she aged. The symptoms started on her cat at around 12 yrs old.
Old age is probably what is happening. You mentioned that she was 12?
If she is acting strange and losing bodily functions, then she might be getting to old.
12-16 yrs is about the oldest that I have heard cats live to.
I hope that you are not taking offence to what I am trying to say.
She might be winding down after a long full life.

Internal abscess? Pancreatitis (which can have almost normal blood work)? Did they do an x-ray? Did he palpitate the organs and check to see if there's constipation backed up as far as the heart? Was he a cat specialist?
You're right in that there's something wrong, you may need to call a different vet, one who specialises in cats, and get her over there.

Over $300 bucks and no diagnosis?! I'd demand another vet, a real diagnosis, and this time- darn it, you better not charge me! If they do, if the cat dies, etc. Then take them to small claims court to get your money back, have them pay court costs, and even extra for the cost of losing a valued pet.
I HATE vets who do this sort of thing to pet owners.

I had this happen to a kitten It's rear leags went limp as well. The vet gave it a shot and it was better the next day but overnight it was back to the same and we had to put it down after we spent at least 300 bucks. It was very emotional on the kids.
I'm sorry for your kitten
The vet didn't know what my kitten had either.

take her to her regular vet. i hope and pray that she dosen't have what our 13 1/2 year old had. on 2-5-07 she was not acting like herself on mon. 2-6 staggering a little on tues and not eating. weds i went as far as to chew up chicken and try and get her to eat. weds night(2-7-06) she threw up and her breath smelled like tuna. thurs 2-8-07 she went to vet. vet said at that age alot of things start to fail and cancers can set in in the stomach, kidneys and other areas. we did not have a autopsy done after she was put to sleep. like i said i hope she'll be ok. please update us on her.

CALL A DIFFERENT VET
Then offer to settle the other Vet bill for half the amount because it was no help to your cat and no diagnosis was made.
Check her blood sugar ASAP! you can use a human glucose checker - use the large paw pad on her hind leg paw, make sure it is clean, rub it some, then use the lancet pin to get the blood.
anything above 200 or below 80, call vet ASAP
Best of luck

That sounds exactly like my old cat! She is getting fairly old, and she could have diabetes. Acting lethargic is a first sign of developing heart disease. Also, the throwing up could mean she got into something and her body is rejecting it. Is there any poison, cleaners, or something outside she could have gotten into?
