I recommend the American Red Cross. They can always use volunteers to help out with their disaster services and family services. The Red Cross is just not about giving blood. They help families in your community that are flooded or burned out of their homes, during hurricanes or tornadoes and they can always use the help. I've been a volunteer since 1999.
Find your local office and show up offering to help....they'll be happy to see you.

Nursing homes, hospitals are great places to do community service. Also your town hall would have other idea's geared to your area's needs. Good Luck

My Mom keeps saying go to a retirement home also and I'm already retired myself. I would think that you have to listen and question as the interview technique to bring them out.
