I'm going to visit Thailand for about 2 months. And I'm going to bring my Laptop Computer with me.

Do I need to bring my proof of ownership with me?

And am I likely to have some problem with customs officials at the international airport in Bangkok?

No problems at all with the airport.
Most hotels accommodate the US 2 prong outlets, but bring a 2 round pin standard euro one just in case. They have them at radio shack.
What I strongly suggest is a surge protector for when your computer is plugged in. In some places, flow of electricity can be "unpredictable" especially during thunderstorms. And unplug your computer when you leave your room.
Enjoy your trip!

I live in Bangkok and travel frequently with my laptop, never has anyone questioned me about my laptop in over 40 trips into and out of Thailand. I don't know what good bringing receipts will do, unless you wanted to give it to someone and choose to pay duty on it or had it stolen, but I guess it can't hurt to bring a receipt or a copy of it. You will not have any problems with customs, nor will they even question you about your laptop, nothing to worry about whatsoever.

No problems at all I do it all the time. You do not need receipts either that is just crazy.

Yes EMAILSKIP is right as well. They always want to check oyur pictures and lie to you as to why when you return. I no longer silently tolerate this and have started filing complaints and telling them where to get off. I do it repsectfully but it is BS. If you just sit back and take it it continues. I make the trip so much that some of them remember me and they've cut the crap since it is only pure harrassment. Unless you pushback they will harrass you endlessly. You have to follow the rules though when they do this. Since they started doing this to me every time I just started filing harrassment complaints and they stopped. I never do anything illegal I'm just a family man on business and have nothing to hide nevertheless they always target me and I got sick of their crap. The last time the fat pervert looking customs guy at SFO threw me into the line another one saw me remembered me and told the other guy;
"What's wrong with you this is B.S. to search him again." and motioned me on. My wife and I left and went on. They are power mongers and add no value. They need to start doing their actual jobs.

No problem and it is better if you could bring a copy of the receipt just in case if they need your proof of ownership. For info about Thailand, you can visit this website http://www.travelinfocentre.com/destination/thailand/overview.html

The major problem is returning to the US Customs where they will want to check everything---especially pictures and files and folders. They have Americans profiled as perverts and are sure every one returning to the US from Thailand has thousands of child porn hidden away in some secret compartment. They are ruthless and rude and power hungry mongrels that make travel a pain in the "donkey" for good,, decent, law-abiding citizens.

There is no problem bringing the laptop as long as you do not store illegal and forbidden files in it. The costums will not confiscate it but it might be subject for inspection and security check.

Laptops are ok with customs. You just show at inspection and exit. As with other airports elsewhere.

No problem whatsoever. It is the adapter for the power outlet and the voltage that you may have to think about - depending on which country you are from.

Take copies of your receipts and have customs certify your ownership.
