they say you should use DVD decrypter to rip a DVD but why can't i just copy the files off the DVD to my harddrive? I have anyDVD running so I don't have to worry about encryption, so why can't i just copy and past rather than use DVDdecrypter?

You can copy the files from a DVD to your hard drive, but if it's copy protected then the video won't play back correctly.

Anydvd removes the incryption, but you have to have clonedvd to mount it on your hard drive. Go to filehippo.com and down load dvdshrink, which will not only decrypt it, makes it region free, it also lets you choose full backup or the main movie with no menu's. I'm not running down dvddecrypter, I use it also, just depending on my needs. Unfortunatly ripit4me was slapped with a take down notice. it was a perfect team with dvddecrypter. You can still get it but I wont say where in this forum.

2 things:

1. encryption
2. file size

So if you have no worry then just copy the files off. But as copied file encryption still there and the files remain rather unportable.

because they are like codecs, you can save the hard information, but you need the ability to read, interpret and then play BACK... :) I'm sure that wasn't the greatest explanation.......

Hope That Helped!
