You need something like FrontlinePlus...good source and cheaper than the vets is petshed.com...I use it so I know it works. A flea comb with a cup of hot water & a little dish liquid to dip the comb in when you comb your dog/cat. LOTs of vac bags and vac everyday and remove the bag and tie it in a shopping bag and take out of the house. This will work and you should see improvements within two months. DON'T use sprays, powders, house bombs, flea collars and over the counter products. They are dangerous and are full of pesticides and can harm you and your pet! To let you know as I was given a paper from the vets...cycle of the flea...They hatch from a cocoon like a butterfly...in one week they are an adult....as a adult they lay a egg every hour of their lives up to 1-2 years they live. The eggs hatch into a larva in about two weeks...they spend three weeks as a larva and then they wrap themselves into a cocoon. In the cocoon stage you can't kill them unless you plan on burning down your house...fire is the only way to kill them in this stage. What makes them hatch from a cocoon is vibration, heat, and all sorts of things. They need a host to feed on within one week or they will die. ( problem being is the cocoons can take up to five months to hatch! and they all hatch at different rates!) WOW that is a lot of fleas! FrontlinePlus uses two ways to kill the fleas...they first have an ingredient that paralyzes the flea so it can't feed and it dies...it does this for two weeks. The following two weeks it just inhibits the flea eggs of the fleas that feed on them and eggs don't hatch. This is why it takes a few months, but it does work. BTW...flea baths don't work either and will make it so the FrontlinePlus won't work.

Get a pet bath soap and use the bathtub. What I did many years ago on our last dog, I got a pet bath soap that killed fleas, and it came in bars. I got one of those fingernail type dish brushes and scrubbed the bar, then the dog, and fleas were falling off everywhere. I'd top that off with a flea collar afterward. But take your time in the bath, close the door so he doesn't have anywhere to go if he hops out. I'd also talk to a vet about this and see if he/she can't provide the perfect advice. Good luck!

It seems like I am answering this question a lot lately. Put your dog in the sink or bathtub and dunk them all the way up to their snout. Do not totally emmerse him or he will drown, he has to breathe. The fleas will drown as they cannot swim. Lather him up good with soap and let him soak for about 20 to 30 minutes. This will kill off any fugitives. You will have to pick all the dead fleas off him with your hand or tweezers, it will take awhile but it works. Also you will need to spray your house, the carpets and furniture as the eggs can live for weeks. I swear by Hartz 4 in 1 flea and tick spray for all my dogs. It is only about 5 bucks at your local target store and it works for up to 3 months. I refuse to pay for frontline or those other brands, they are way to expensive and overrated. You should also call yoru vet and have your dog checked out as they can get very sick from flea bites. Good luck!!

Give her a bath using Dawn dish soap, original formula. Massage it in starting around the face then around the butt being carefull not to get soap in her nose esp. if she is a pup!
Let it stay on about five minutes then rinse real good. If you have a flea comb that will help to comb out the fleas that are still in the coat because they aren't all killed, some are just stunned.
Also, you will need to give her some fresh bedding and treat your house and furniture. If she isn't pregnant, consult with your Vet about a topical flea preventative and an oral one.
I use BioSpot on my dogs and that keeps them flea free. What is important is to carefully read directions and get the right amount according to weight and age. If you get flea product from your Vet, they will give you products in the correct amount for your pet.

You should be using a flea preventative like frontline or advantage and then you won't have this problem at all. It will kill all the fleas within 24 hours and then prevents them for a full month. I would suggest going to your vet and buying some.

Yes, as the other posters have said, you need to consult your vet and then commit to a flea prevention program such as Frontline Plus. I have used this with both of my dogs and they have never had fleas. This is really the only thing I would trust.

Give her bath with flea shampoo. Scrub her good. take all linens, etc. where she has been and wash them in hot water. Clean out tub or where ever you bath her really good. Maybe give your house a good vacumning = everywhere the dog goes, under bed, etc. then throw away bag or clean out container after emptying. You may need to get something from vet to help her. After you get this taken care of, please put Frontline or something similiar on your dog so this won't happend again, Not fun for dogs or owners! Good Luck.

My daughter had the same problem with her dog. The pet groomer told her to mix 1 cup of Dawn dish soap with 3 caps (not cups) of Listerine mouthwash. This will kill the ones your dog has on him or her .This will work till your dog goes out again which is fine if the dog is an indoor dog. So, if you plan on keeping the dog in till getting a treatment this works GREAT! Hope this will help you.

ivory or dove dishwashing detergent is good to use. apply around neck then around bum hole. THEN wash the rest of the dog. The fleas can't go into the dog's ears nor his bum hole to hide while giving it a bath.
