Im afraid they are right although the voltage doesn't rest at 10,000 when the tv is off more like 500-1000 under no god forsaken circumstance should you ever work on a tv when its plugged in when the flyback energizes it can arc to several inchs and cook you like a hot dog. TV caps have to be shorted using a shorting probe and unless you know for sure its the tuner you shouldn't even bother to properly repair a TV requires a multitude of tools including a scope which usually start at 200 dollars and easy get into the thousands even then its barely worth the effort with how cheap tvs are today and if you needed to ask this question in the first place then you shouldn't be attempting it.

If it's an old rotating click tuner, it's right behind the knob. Use a flashlight and you'll see the thing turning when someone turns the tuner from the outside.

Watch out for the "suction cup" on the back of the screen! It's not a suction cup. It's the 2nd anode and there's more than 10,000 volts on it, even when it's off.

Most items in a TV are not like a computer. They are all hardwired together. It's not like you can pop out the tuner board and insert a new one.

In addition, the TV Tube has an incredible amount of electricity attached to it, yes even when it's turned off. Touching it improperly can hurt you. Call a TV Tech and ask them.

You have an old tv and still using antenna to receive tv program. You are better off getting the basic cable or disc network service for a better connection and having more tv channel to watch. Adding a 120 volt plug in rota-tor is only going to make it easy for you to rotate the antenna.

Your antenna plugs directly into the tuner and it looks like a metal box about the size of a packet of smokes !!!
Hi Silence ! I never knew all that sh#t you talk about and I spent 40+ years repairing TVs , its a miracle that I am still here !!!
